Excellent steel, excellent handle, and made in the USA by an old and respected company. However, two negatives:1) the finish on the steel surface was all splotchy and uneven. There is a clear coat (rust preventative) that was applied sloppily, so I ended up sanding it off and applying my own. Huge improvement.2) the Estwing sticker on the handle immediately starts peeling as soon as it gets wet or has any friction, so I decided to just peel it off. It left a horrible residue that took forever to remove. How a sticker can have such poor retention with such strong adhesive is mind boggling. It’s like they used the world’s best adhesive while simultaneously using the world’s cheapest paper for the Estwing sticker. Shame because had they just laser etched the logo it would be a non issue.Quality control issues aside, it’s a rock solid sturdy hatchet that should last decades if properly maintained. I imagine this hatchet will outlast me. Well worth the investment.

I've always been impressed by Eastwing's hammers so I decided to get this hatchet for the garden. It is a must have for any homeowner. The hatchet is great for clearing brush, dead limbs, cutting roots and using the back side as a hammer.The handle, which are straps of leather kind of blended into one grip, is super cool and feels great. There is a sold steel plug at the bottom as well which you can use to tap down things. It also includes a sheath. Its sharp from the factory but can be re sharpened and honed basically forever. I'm sure its great for camping as well but around the home its also priceless and comes at a great price.

Quality control was a bit off. I had to order a 2nd one since the blade on the 1st was ground crooked. The 2nd order was pretty good. Worth keeping. I mainly use it to chop small splits for my BBQ smoker.

Great product and top notch quality and finish. This product embodies the idea of paying a few more bucks and getting a world class product made in the USA. One solid piece of American steel (says that on the tag). That's the five star part of this review.The one start part of this review is that Estwing has been selling out and making many of their products in China lately. The quality difference is noticeable from 5 feet away. No thanks. I'll only buy their American products.

¡En general muy bien! Llegó bien embalada sellada, protegida y rápido. Es muy bonita y se siente muy fuerte, aunque le noto que le falta algo de filo, pero eso es lo de menos; nada que no se pueda corregir con una piedra. Estoy muy satisfecho con esta compra.

Poco más se puede decir de los productos de esta marca... son para toda la vida, el típico hacha o martillo que podrán heredar los bisnietos.En 2100 un hacha se considerará un arma así que tendrán que devolverlo al cuartelillo y se quedará tu hacha la benemérita por eso sería interesante mandarle grabar una leyenda del tipo "guardame bajo el colchón hasta que lleguen las guerras zombies". Porque es una magnífica pieza para llevarla colgada del cinturón.

There is no better hatchet for the price. Estwing has been top American quality for as long as it has existed. You are getting a tool that will last beyond your life. I bought this when I was very drunk. It came in the mail. I wasn't expecting it. I've had it for a few years now and I can say I chopped down a tree, much to my brothers protest. That bitch came down. It was time. This hatchet made quick work of it. Now it sits by my bed for personal protection. Well, protection of myself and my guinea pig. The one and only Winston.Back to the hatchet. It feels good in the hand. Like you could really do some damage with it. To a tree or a zombie. I mean it's perfectly balanced and the leather handle will last forever. The reason I wanted an Estwing is because my dad had an Estwing hammer with a leather handle and it just felt really good and he always said it was a good hammer. So yeah, naturally I wanted what my dad said was good when it came to tools. I've had this hatchet 5 years and it has only taken one life. That of a tree to be clear. But it sits at my bedside. It will take a human life if need be. An Estwing hammer or hatchet with a leather hammer isn't just a tool. It's a work of art and a part of history. This is how thing used to be done. And last forever. When 'share holders' weren't a concern.
