When you want your bass down low, you need a subwoofer as part of your home audio/theater system. Monoprice has the basses covered with this 12 inch, 150 watt (RMS) Powered Subwoofer model! This 12" sub is capable of producing 150 watts RMS (200 watts peak) output. It has a frequency response range of 50 to 250 Hz with a low-pass crossover filter, which can be adjusted through the full range. Gain and frequency knobs on the control panel allow you to adjust the crossover filter and the power output for the optimum blend and balance of bass output with your stereo or surround speakers. The subwoofer has multiple input options, which allow it to be used with any existing stereo or 5.1 (or greater) amplifier system. For each input there is a corresponding output. High-level inputs accept a full-range signal from the amplifier's stereo speaker outputs. When connecting the unit as part of a 5.1 system, these would be taken off the Front Left and Front Right outputs in parallel to the standard pair of front speakers. The subwoofer provides its own power and includes impedance matching circuitry, so this will not reduce the power output to the front speakers or affect the overall impedance load on the amplifier. The High-Level output can be used to connect to your stereo/front speakers or you can connect them in parallel at the amplifier. Additionally, the subwoofer has a set of right/left Line Level inputs. If using a standard stereo system, without a special subwoofer output, you can connect these to the left and right line level outputs on the amp. The subwoofer will then combine the signals to process the mono bass signal it needs to drive the speaker. If you are using an amplifier with a single mono subwoofer line level output, simply use an RCA "Y" cable to split the output and send it to the two line level inputs on the subwoofer. The Line Level outputs can be used to daisy chain additional subwoofers to provide even more room-filling bass! The subwoofer is housed in an attractive wooden cabinet, with a black finish, and measures 17" x 17" x 16 7/8" (H x W x D). The driver fires out the front and is covered by a black cloth grill. A 3 1/2" sound port is positioned underneath the enclosure. An optional "Auto-On" function puts the subwoofer system into power-saving standby mode after about 2 minutes of no audio input detected. Alternatively, the "Auto-On" function can be disabled, allowing the unit to be on whenever the power switch is in the "on" position. A 2 amp/250 volt fuse protects the system from short circuits or power overloads.

When I first got it I struggled a bit but that turned out to be the DAC on my PC acting up, a software change fixed it. Now I sit in my office / gaming room, with my Micca RB48's on the sides of my monitor, with the Monoprice 12 behind me on the opposite side of the room. For reference, the room is about a 10'x10' give or take a foot on either side, I have not specifically measured. It's a small room bedroom I use for my purposes.That said, I wasn't sure what to expect as I have only had good speakers and subwoofers in vehicles and mostly just used TV speakers and headphones inside. Given, I have audiophile headphones. Then I was buying the Micca RB48's as I knew they were entry-level audiophile bookshelf speakers, and someone recommended to me the Monoprice 12 as a budget bass option. I took the risk, made my purchase, and wow, months later I am incredibly impressed.I do not think I have ever cranked it all the way up as it's simply too loud if I am in the room with it, being that's it's a smaller room. I'm sure in a living room or such with more space it would really open up and shine more than it does now. It rocks this room. I can feel the vibrations from behind, if I crank it too much I can feel it in my desk, and it's just fantastic.Even though it's budget friendly, the quality of the bass is not horrible but rather impressive for the cost, it actually goes really nicely with the RB48's. If you're looking for a budget entry into some very nice bass to match your speakers, I definitely recommend giving this subwoofer a try.

My office is in our basement, a small 9'x8' room. I have an Italian Pine dining table as my desk, and the subwoofer sits underneath in the back left corner.I can feel the bass nicely in every spot of the room. It's not too powerful, it does exactly what this room demands without making everyone in the family mad at me. A more powerful and expensive subwoofer might be pleasing, but this one fills a nice gap and works well for way less. I appreciate it's value.I had a 2.1 setup, now this 2.1.1 setup (subwoofer wired to speaker outputs on an older Pioneer VSX, then my tower speakers wired to the sub outputs) makes it feel complete. I don't really need 5.1 afterall (only if $ and interests drive that direction in the future.)

Having read many reviews of the Monoprice 12" 150W Subwoofer, I decided to purchase the model #10-9723 to determine why there are such divided reviews and why it is reviewed overall lower than the Monoprice 8" 60W #8248 . I have seen reviews on YouTube that show that the Monoprice 12" 150W subwoofer outperforming all of the popular budget subwoofers. I removed the damaged in shipment reviews and the DOAs from my evaluation, then reassessed them and put it to my ears. I already own the 8" 60W model #8248 and since I'm using a Denon 5.1.2 AVR, I had an unused sub output that was lonely and wanted it's own subwoofer! ;)I have a 16' (wide) x 14' (deep) listening area in a much larger room that is subdivided by 72" backed bookshelves. My fronts and surrounds are Sony SSCS5s, my center is a Dayton Audio MK442. There are so many variables in listening and sound signatures with the current AVR, but for testing and most music listening I set the AVR for Stereo. Yes, I do use alternative music listening settings, but for simplicity and speaker driving Stereo is best for evaluating the Monoprice #10-9723.The bass is realistic at mid volume levels and I was satisfied after tweaking. The bass sounds lower on this with less effort (air) than the Monoprice 8" 60W sub. There are so many settings that need to be considered especially for balanced surround sound. You will need to set up your speakers for distance and crossover points when using an AVR. Using a Stereo setting on an AVR simplifies that process. I assume that some prefer more bass. I prefer realistic tight bass more than booming, but I want to hear it all true to the recording (all of which differ!). I rarely listen to music at concert level even on live recordings. Loud to me should not be capable of damaging my well worn ears. I've been to concerts where my hearing was damaged!So, at my preferred settings, the Monoprice #10-9723 is a better than average budget subwoofer and relatively flat above 50HZ. If you want Infrasound (below 20 Hz) for those scary movies that include it, this Monoprice sub will not do it. For music, the bass seems deeper than the Monoprice 8" 60W but a little less punchy and more dispersed. Keep in mind that the 8" 60W subwoofer has to move more air to achieve lower bass and it is front firing/ported which makes it more directional. The Monoprice 12" 150W is front firing and bottom ported and, I believe, has a wider less directional sound signature than the Monoprice 8" 60W subwoofer. In smaller listening areas, I understand that many would prefer the sound of the Monoprice 8" 60W. It's drawback is that for some recordings with heavy punching base at mid volume and higher you may experience port chuffing sooner than you will on the Monoprice 12" 150W.Keep in mind that independent of your stereo amp/AVR settings both the 8" and 12" Monoprice subwoofers have independent volume and frequency manual knobs on the back that are not controlled by your amp/AVR. Maybe this has something to do with complaints about not enough bass or that it is less directional than front ported subs. You need to get the settings right on both the amp/AVR and on the subwoofer and boost it at the amp/AVR, if you prefer more bass than the recorded level.In summary, I have placed the Monoprice 12" 150W subwoofer to the right of my AVR stand on top of which is my Sony 55" HDR 4K TV. I have moved the Monoprice 8" 60W subwoofer from there to behind my couch which is the watching and listening point for my system. These aren't matching subwoofers and I hear no cancellation. The rear one behind the couch gives me significant "couch vibration" and accentuated bass for Dolby and DTS surround sound movies. That's as close to rumble as I want. I can feel some bass lines in my chest as well as hear them. The Monoprice 8" 60W does move more air than the 12" 150W and it is very noticeable at the back of the couch when I flip it on. The Monoprice 12" 150W is satisfying in stereo mode for music listening and most surround sound movies. If you are buying a subwoofer only for Dolby/DTS rumble, I don't recommend this or any other budget subwoofer. You will need to spend a lot more to get less roll off below 50Hz. Still there is plenty of bass to be had and heard if properly configured and I am satisfied with the performance I am getting in a relatively small listening area. It isn't a matter of getting what you pay for. It is a matter of getting the best hearable base at the best price point.The major difference between the two Monoprice subwoofers is that the 8" 60W must work harder to produce lower bass notes and it is a more directional bass line that might be preferred by some that can be lost to port chuffing sooner than on the 12" 150W.~TcG

Poor quality sub. I decided to buy this because I wanted to just start with the lowest price option and I figured I could upgrade later.Having absolutely no experience in home audio I got it working.. but I was always wondering if it was working properly. I did some research and determined that because this sub does not have dedicated LFE port I maybe should use a y adapter.The y adapter gave me better low frequency response but overall reduced the quality of its performance. I kinda just accepted it.A week later, I was browsing deals on Bolo and saw there was a Klipsch R-120sw was on sale for 219.99 decided to try that as it was only $20 more than the sub that I had (and I was extremely underwhelmed with the monoprice…)I’m not exaggerating when I say the difference was staggering. With the Klipsch within the first 5 seconds of audio I could feel the bass travel through my body. There is no comparison. The Klipsch has to be the best quality budget subwoofer on the market.

Fuse housing was broken from factory, so i messaged seller and explaned it that i could fixed it. And they discounted me 50% of the price so i agreed. 5star for that, and 5min total work for me to find out what was wrong and fixing it. Woofer works fine 12” is always better than 8”. Impressed with quality of sound compared to price. Greate purchace for me

Que no te engañe, 150W no parecen nada pero si que golpea las puertas.Lo tengo en una habitación chica y no solo hace que la puerta retumbe, también patea las puertas de otras 3 habitaciones contiguas. El crossover solo me bastó con dejarlo al máximo de 150Hz (lo tengo con un Denon AVR-S660H que hace el trabajo de crossover) y dejar el volumen justo a la mitad para tener un buen sonido.Quizá no sea un subwoofer que puede ir más abajo de los 45Hz, pero eso no quita el hecho de que cuenta con una buena presencia en el rango de los 50-80Hz que en varios escenarios supera otros bajos del mismo rango de precio.Para usarlo en un Hometheater o un sistema 2.1 queda perfecto, solo aguas con el espacio porque si es grande la caja (17 x 17 pulgadas)
Quite powerful
This sub produces a little "humm" at zero volume but you won't notice it when a movie or even the radio is playing. I put it on "auto mode" so that when the music or voice level is really low, it will automatically shut down. I like this feature. As to the sound and power, it's great! Just hope it will last many years...
Muy bueno, si no eres un audiofilo
Es un buen producto para completar o reponer el subwoofer de un teatro en casa H&K. A mi gusto tiene mucho mejor respuesta que el original. En otras reseñas dicen que por no tener entrada HFE la respuesta y volúmen sería muy bajo aún con un conector Y. Pero en mi caso con el mismo cable RCA que trae funciona muy bien y potente. Lo he probado con películas, musica, etc. Y no me ha defraudado. Muy satisfecho con la compra. El tamaño si es relativamente grande y el color es negro a secas, y me preocupa el tema que la bocina sea frontal, por eso de los niños...pero espero que con la tapa sea suficiente. Excelente relación costo-beneficio.

I kinda just accepted it.A week later, I was browsing deals on Bolo and saw there was a Klipsch R-120sw was on sale for 219.99 decided to try that as it was only $20 more than the sub that I had (and I was extremely underwhelmed with the monoprice…)I’m not exaggerating when I say the difference was staggering. With the Klipsch within the first 5 seconds of audio I could feel the bass travel through my body. There is no comparison. The Klipsch has to be the best quality budget subwoofer on the market.

Fuse housing was broken from factory, so i messaged seller and explaned it that i could fixed it. And they discounted me 50% of the price so i agreed. 5star for that, and 5min total work for me to find out what was wrong and fixing it. Woofer works fine 12” is always better than 8”. Impressed with quality of sound compared to price. Greate purchace for me

Que no te engañe, 150W no parecen nada pero si que golpea las puertas.Lo tengo en una habitación chica y no solo hace que la puerta retumbe, también patea las puertas de otras 3 habitaciones contiguas. El crossover solo me bastó con dejarlo al máximo de 150Hz (lo tengo con un Denon AVR-S660H que hace el trabajo de crossover) y dejar el volumen justo a la mitad para tener un buen sonido.Quizá no sea un subwoofer que puede ir más abajo de los 45Hz, pero eso no quita el hecho de que cuenta con una buena presencia en el rango de los 50-80Hz que en varios escenarios supera otros bajos del mismo rango de precio.Para usarlo en un Hometheater o un sistema 2.1 queda perfecto, solo aguas con el espacio porque si es grande la caja (17 x 17 pulgadas)
Quite powerful
This sub produces a little "humm" at zero volume but you won't notice it when a movie or even the radio is playing. I put it on "auto mode" so that when the music or voice level is really low, it will automatically shut down. I like this feature. As to the sound and power, it's great! Just hope it will last many years...
Muy bueno, si no eres un audiofilo
Es un buen producto para completar o reponer el subwoofer de un teatro en casa H&K. A mi gusto tiene mucho mejor respuesta que el original. En otras reseñas dicen que por no tener entrada HFE la respuesta y volúmen sería muy bajo aún con un conector Y. Pero en mi caso con el mismo cable RCA que trae funciona muy bien y potente. Lo he probado con películas, musica, etc. Y no me ha defraudado. Muy satisfecho con la compra. El tamaño si es relativamente grande y el color es negro a secas, y me preocupa el tema que la bocina sea frontal, por eso de los niños...pero espero que con la tapa sea suficiente. Excelente relación costo-beneficio.
Tiene una muy buena relacion calidad/precio
La calidad de su sonido es muy superior al precio que se paga por la bocina
