Once again besides my long time experience with Radio Flyer Products starting with their very historical and heavy duty wagon for kids, this 1st Scooter is another high quality toy by Radio Flyer. This my 3.5 years old son 1st scooter and its very stable with a wide foot standing base which allow for safe and easy double feet standing on the scooter when its running on walking way or in a park compared with the slim and narrow foot base by other brands which prevent kids from standing both feet on the scooter. One more thing is controlled and right to left movable wheels with good control of the movement direction compared with other brands which doesnt allow for turning the scooter in either direction which limits the enjoyment of kids while learning their first time driving experience. I do recommend this product to any couple with a kid whose owning his first safe and reliable scooter.

After purchasing 3 scooters for 3 different kids over the past few months and seeing how much enjoyment each one got out of theirs, I decided to go the scooter route again when I was in the market for a gift for a 2 year old's birthday. When I stumbled across this one, I knew I had to buy it. First off, you never can go wrong with a Radio Flyer. Secondly, the quality and ease of putting this thing together cannot be beat. Lastly, this is a scooter that is the perfect size for the youngest of riders. It is very stable, constructed of quality materials, and will last well beyond the time that they need to advance in scooter sizing.

This is a great starter scooter. My son is almost 2 and wants to be like his big sisters who have Razor scooters. This is a perfect option for him and he will be able to enjoy it for a few more summers as i can see. The only things I noticed is that the handle bar is a bit flimsy so if you push or pull too hard, it may bend. Other than that, he's used it daily for about 2 weeks and it's holding up very well so far. Im very happy with the purchase and he loves it too.

It does not have a great turning radius and it is very stiff and hard to turn (steer) which makes it not quite a fun for my little guy unfortunately. He prefers his sisters princess scooter because it turns better and it's easy to steer. We even considered buying him a completely different scooter just because of this. Quality wise it's great.

Easy to assemble, holds up so far to 2 yr old (almost 3) use. I like that the two wheels are on the front instead of the back, so that they don't hit her ankles. It is a bit hard for her to steer, but I think it is just practice needed, not toy design problem. We have taken it several times for several blocks and it holds up good. An added bonus is that it is super lightweight, so when mommy or daddy need to carry it for tired kids, it is no problem at all. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a scooter.

Why did you choose this rating?I bought this scooter for my 3-year-old nephew. He is pretty good at riding scooters (He uses my razor 2-wheel scooter with mild success, but obviously needs a learning scooter to get a better hang of it). The assembly was simple and the scooter looks good, but when you try and turn it (left or right) it doesn't budge. It makes riding the thing impossible as you can only go forwards and backwards. Once you actually turn the handle bars to the left or right it will then be stuck in that position until you get off and move it to a new position. So it's either back and forth or going in circles. Not what I was expecting and definitely a defect.What did you like or dislike?I like the look and the size (so did my nephew as I showed him multiple scooters and he kept saying he wanted this one). It is a little wide for smaller kids as their scooting foot can get caught by the width of the scooter itself. I don't like the fact that it doesn't turn. Oh, and the scooter doesn't fold and is reasonably heavyWho would you recommend this product to?Anybody on a straight line journey. Seriously, even with WD40 we finally got the thing to turn with decent force (still too hard to turn for a little kid while riding). We received this scooter one day prior to what was scheduled, and it came packaged properly. Putting it together was quick and simple.The size is great for our 2 year old son, and he will be able to use it for quite some time. It is steady and not easily tipped over. The top of the scooter, where the feet go, does have raised sections, as to help with grip. The wheels are plastic, which do scuff up easily and quickly. Turning directions is a little difficult at first for a 2 year old, but I honestly believe that is not a defect of the scooter.I feel confident that this is safe for my toddler (of course, he wears a helmet too.)I highly recommend this product.

Our middle son is 2 years old and wants so badly to be like his older brother so when his older brother got a scooter for his birthday, he needed one too. This is PERFECT for a 2 year old. We also put a helmet on him (for the safety nuts out there) but so far, he hasn't fallen off. He's careful and pushes himself around the driveway on it. I think it's a great value and toy for the younger active toddler.

MY husband had his doubts! But I'm so glad I bought this scooter for my clumsy toddler. Its the perfect size for 2-5 year olds in my opinion! It provides a wide balance board for beginners to learn at home and is sturdy enough for safety.

Buy when you are 4+ years old
I dont think this should be called a my 1st bike. This is for taller kids. My toddler wears 3T in clothing size and she still looks too short to ride this. However, I like that you can turn the wheels to drive different directions.
Nice base
My daughter loves this! She is 3 but not very coordinated. This gives her a nice base to stand on unlike other scooters which are much skinnier.
Ideal 1st time scooter!
Great little scooter! Bought it twice now for 2 of my grandchildren. Nice large pad for the foot, easy to learn on.
