The hinges and latch are heavy duty, the finish looks durable, and the self-closing springs and adjustment are great. Even the heads of the fasteners are coated in the same color. I expect these will last a long time on our chicken run. I bought a second matching latch at the hardware store to better secure the door, and this very brand and type was available, so that was nice. Maybe check locally and save yourself some money, like I failed to do!Mine are very free-moving, but only time will tell if I have to re-adjust them often. I would say there are a lot of things that can add friction to a gate or door, like sagging, swelling of frames, etc that could cause issues (or your gate is heavier than the max rating of the hinges!). I had to shave some material off the bottom of our door after a week because the frame shifted slightly and the hinges wouldn't close the door. But that wasn't the hinges fault.Note that I was even able to adjust the top hinge with higher closing force to compensate for a small twist that developed in the door. With higher tension on the top hinge, it manages to pull the door closed flush with the stop along the entire door, despite the twist. Pretty handy!

Installed one as a third hinge on an existing gate door to make it self-closing after our pup escaped a couple times. Works well with a couple clicks tighter on the tensioning screw.

It ended up working out, but almost didn't as adjustment instructions suck. Increasing torque is easy, decreasing is the tricky part. Instructions say "depress wrench to disengage ratchet. Rotate wrench counter clockwise." In reality I had to hit the inserted hex wrench with a hammer a couple of time to get the ratchet to reset the spring. As far as I can tell, at no time is it possible to turn it counter clockwise.

I used 2 sets of these for a back yard fence. They were easy to install, sturdy and attractive. The screws were a good size and the hardware seems to be of good quality. The self closing feature is easy to adjust. The latch works very well.

I love that they have the springs in them to make the gate self closing. That's helps me a lot so chickens don't get out when I don't want them too. They are strong and easy to install too on our walk-through gates. Great product.

Good Gate kit, but arrived a day later then promised - thanks Bolo and looks like the package was accessed/opened previously. But, it's made out of decent metal - so no real harm done.
Slam door hinges
Very happy with the hinges and gate lock. The hinges are adjustable so you can have a hard slam or light slam. I ordered a second pair and would recommend it to anyone needing a door that closes behind you. I had to install it in the loft stair opening to pass inspection by the township. On the days that I want it open, I just bunjie it to the loft rail.
