I re-tune it maybe once or twice a week after playing for 1-2 hours a day bending strings and strumming hard. sometimes ill check the tune and be surprised i don't even need to tweak it. its a solid guitar for a beginner. even after i bought it, i continued to read good reviews on this instrument, including top 10 lists featuring this model. which makes you feel even better that you made the right decision. I'm right at 3 months into buying it and the strings that come on it are still fine. the tuners are solid. the pickups work wonders. absolutely no fret buzz. which is crazy for a guitar this cheaply priced. most need to be taken somewhere to get them setup. but i literally pulled this out of the box, tuned it, and been playing everyday for 3 months. I'm sure some minor adjustments "could" be made but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. i've upgraded my amp and cables though. the cable is fine for a beginner. and so is the amp, however the lack of effects on the amp are VERY limited. and the distortion on the amp is borderline terrible if your wanting to jump straight into rock or metal. but i started out playing without distortion so i could learn everything without making my ears bleed. haha. the action is also set perfect for a beginner in my opinion (string height off the fret board). its not too high and not too low. i've been looking for another guitar to purchase for the past few weeks because i love playing so much now, and i've yet to find one that i would've rather have had than this one as my first guitar. bottom line, its well made, sturdy, no imperfections, and the tone sounds AMAZING. don't believe me?, just google Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 and look at all the reviews and all the top 10 lists this guitar has been featured in. you literally cant go wrong.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!
I'm an older person who has never played a guitar, but I've always wanted to learn, sort of a bucket list thing. I started shopping for a quality beginner guitar that wouldn't break the bank. After checking dozens of listings, reading, hundreds of reviews, and watching countless Youtube review videos, I decided on this one. It looked fantastic, the reviews - especially from experienced players - was great, and the price was right. It was hard to get at the lower $250 price because inventory was low and they sold out quickly. I missed out on the deal several times, but patience paid off. As soon as I saw the kit available this time, I ordered.I'm glad I did! The kit was shipped quickly, the guitar was pristine, and the accessories, though not the best on the market, were very acceptable, especially for a beginner like me. If I'm able to pick up on guitar playing over the next few months, I'll probably upgrade the amp and the case. I was impressed by the appearance of the guitar itself. Everything seemed perfect. The control knobs are a clear acrylic with black underneath, which gives them the look of outstanding quality. The body is smooth and glossy, even though the pictures here in the listing make it appear satiny. The fretboard is a beautiful dark wood grain. I really appreciate the tuner that came with the guitar. I'm hard of hearing and tone deaf, so I was particularly worried about properly tuning by ear. But I didn't need to worry. The tuner just clips on to the headstock and when you adjust the tuning knobs, the tuner will turn green when the correct note is played. It took me all of about 10 minutes, taking my time and enjoying the strumming. No worry at all.I love it. It may not be a guitar that can be used professionally, but it's more than enough for a novice or intermediate player.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best Economic Guitar I've played. Period.
I've been playing acoustic guitar for over 17 years. I had a cheap Fender Squier electric in my early 20s that never stayed in tune and sounded pretty terrible even in the few occasions it was tuned- so it turned me off to electric guitar for years. I recently decided to once again try to expand my guitar horizons, and being a fan of most of Epiphones acoustics I've played, I decided to take a shot at this Les Paul Player pack to get back into electric. Am I glad I did. I don't ever want to put this thing down. My wife has to beg me to do housework and my kids have to beg me to play with them, because all I've done is play this thing non stop in my free time. It stays in tune, sounds really great, and the humbucker pickups really reduce the humming you typically hear in guitars in this price range. The amplifier is small, but perfect for practicing- also has a headphone jack so you can plug in and not bother anyone. Has a distortion button, so you can rock out as well. The tuner is pretty nifty- Just make sure you set it to "G" (for guitar) when tuning- the different little letters on the bottom of the tuner are for different instruments NOT different keys (i.e. G-guitar, V-Violin, U-Ukulele, etc...)The gig bag is basic, lightly padded. Seems to do the job pretty well. The free lessons are rather useless if you ask me. I signed up to check them out, most of the songs you have to pay extra for. You can find plenty of tutorials on youtube, or tabs on the internet to teach yourself songs. Or simply take lessons in person.I highly recommend this player pack to anyone looking to start learning guitar, or get back into it after a hiatus.

A long canadian review
OK in all seriousness this is a good buy. I paid just over 370 once handling and tax charges were added to my bill. The guitar came in perfect condition. Zero scratches or marks. It literally was flawless. The rosewood fretboard needed sanding and oiling and the frets were a little sharp but thats ok with a new guitar. I bought some fleur alinco 5 humbucker pickups to upgrade the epiphone pickups. I wanted to get the best possible sound out of the guitar that my budget would allow. I realized that the guitar sounded great with the factory pickups and changing them was pointless for me so I sent them back.Unless you know exactly what sound your going for this guitar already has a nice les paul sound. As my first electric, this guitar sounds better than all the electric guitars I've tried. I've tried 7 other guitars from friends and when I played the les paul special 2 without an amp I realized that It will sound great plugged in and It has great acoustic resonance without being plugged in. I honestly sort of fell in love with it.If I would buy again. I would buy the guitar separately from the player pack. For 200 dollars I would get the guitar and buy a nice practice amp for the same price as this kit. For instance,*Gig bag? Useless for me.*Clip on tuner? Cheap, just ok tuner but I can use my smartphone instead.*Picks? Lol.*Guitar strap? guitar is to much unbalanced to use with a strap. I never perform and always sit anyways.* epiphone electar 10 guitar amp? Its a small amp that is ok for someone to practice with but when I practice I want the best sound thats within my reach so I would pass on the amp and get a better one. People might say it sucks but if you don't have a nice $6000 tube amp and have never played with an electric guitar before pay no mind to them. Its actually an ok beginner practice amp.I got the guitar and bought a new instrument cable (Kirlen cable) with gold tips and the epiphone amp instantly sounds better then with the package cable.I also bought the Blackstar combo amplifier and It sounds very good. If you can play that is. It sounds very clear, almost like a PA with a little gain. The overdrive is nice plus you get a delay built into the amp. I also got the Donner alpha, 3 effect peddle that I use with the epiphone amp.unless you have very similar intentions as I do. Get the guitar separately, get a small, Blackstar, orange, vox, Marshall, fender, yamaha, donner, or #noname amp, whichever sound you prefer. Then get yourself a nice cheap cable, new guitar strings, *very important* i recommend Diaddrio strings. Get a guitar hanger or stand and you should be all set. You still might need picks (I use my fingers) or a pedal effect but that can come later.List to get for neewbies* guitar* amp* new guitar strings* hanger/stand* picks* any oil for fretboard. I used castor oil.* gritty to fine sanding paper for fretboard* painters tape to protect fiberglass neck or rosewood fretboard while polishing* effect peddle and small cable if funds allowCons on guitar.*the glossy finish scratches very easily. In the future I might just sand it down and repolish it for a more vintage matte style finish* guitar is unbalanced and cannot be used comfortably standing up, as the headstock will tilt down.* the guitar is about 3/4 size small from regular les paul guitars. "Travel size". I didn't know this when ordering and because I'm used to a full sized acoustic I still need to get used to it. If you have a small frame and small hands (like me) its ok. If not, get a full sized guitar instead. All that I changed on my guitar is the stings and the plastic nut for cattle bone nut. The tuning machines work great for me. Honestly don't know why people are complaining. I made a rosewood pickguard and applied it. The volume knob needed a hole but it sure looks great I think. I also sanded off the special ii writing on the truss cover and painted it gold over top.
Guitarra con buena relación precio - calidad
La guitarra es muy buena por el precio, el amplificador sirve para ensayar. La correa y las plumillas para ser de regalo no están mal. Los demás accesorios podrían ser mejor, pero cumplen su función.
