Amazing
First of all, I've been following this game since it was announced and I per-ordered it like many other games and can honestly say I was a bit nervous about getting it. Only because some hyped games dont deliver.PresentationRight from the intro you know this is going to be good, the overall game presents itself very well and doesn't seem to cut any corners. The interfaces through the game are well done, sometimes a bit hard to find things so take a good look around :-) Everything is presented well and doesn't feel like they rushed anything.Graphics\SoundGraphics are excellent, including all cut-scenes and in game attention to detail and the atmosphere is stunning. The 3D models and overall game provide a great level of detail and run at a good frame rate. Animation has weigh which is quite rare these days and characters move extremely well , and the combat is pretty much perfect. Cannot find any flaws other than the odd glitch with the Armour collision but this is very petty. Audio, right from the intro sets the tone extremely well and in game sounds are suitable for this type of game.GameplayThis is a 3rd Person combat game, the controls feel very much like a relaxed beat-em up and you soon learn this is not a button basher. Controls are based around defending or attacking from 3 points of your aspect along with the ability to bash someone too. Verious combos exist that can be used in combat. Each of the characters present different capabilities throughout so you need to think a bit and enjoy it as its rare a game provides such complexity and also allows you to just whack away until you find your own approach. You will get owned quite easily if you just jump in against someone well versed, but one important aspect is you only succeed if you work together. There are 3 single player campaigns, each with great cut scenes and variety lasting about 30 missions overall, you can play online co-op and vs modes and the 1v1 duels remind you how complex the combat is but equally how accessible it is. It rewards you for fighting well, in a world flooded with spawn, fight, die, spawn, fight, die this stands head and shoulders above that approach of mindless game play, so it's refreshing to find a game that I can play through instinct.SummaryIn an industry that constantly releases the same crap and provides gamers with mainly FPS, or 3D Action Adventure games this game stands out as a mix between a beat em up and Gears of War and something else. It's faster and more forgiving than Dark souls and provides us with an extremely intense hack and slash games that has more layers than an onion. It's refreshing, atmospheric and challenging. It's equally funny and gory. Overall I can only advise you buy it as there aren't many games out there that actually make you feel nervous playing......tension like this exists in no other game and for that alone, it's a success and worthy of attention. Love it ! NOW FIX THE ONLINE LACK OF DEDICATED SERVERS AS THATS THE ONLY DRAWBACK.
For Honor (Xbox One)
This is a great game to play, excellent graphics and game play, having a choice of three warriors, makes this one of the best role playing games, be aware as the update is 27gb, but if you have the space on your console, then this is well worth buying.
Excellent combat but some of the experience is flawed
A difficult game for me to review as I'm not actually sure if I will stick with it yet. First and foremost the combat system is excellent, it is as close to a sword fighting sim as you will get and as a lover of those epic sword fighting films like Braveheart, Troy and even the TV show Game of Thrones this really ticks those boxes for me. I must stress that this really is a difficult combat system to master and will be very punishing to those simply looking for a pick up and play type of experience which ultimately I do look for in games due to life commitments. The storyline in this game is really quite generic and does feel like it has been quickly put together to make the campaign feel less like a tutorial for multiplayer. Don't get me wrong I understand that it's meant to be showing you the ropes and getting you adjusted to every fighter but I feel like they could have accomplished all of this and still made a thoughtful epic campaign which could stand on its own feet. The lesson here is do not pick this up if you are looking for a single player experience. The multiplayer is where you will be spending most of your time and the real pull for me is the Tekken like mode called duel. No distractions just you versus another fighter in 1v2 or 2v2. It really feels like a couple of legendary warriors facing off with each other I cannot fault that mode although I do wish the surroundings were a bit more varied and less dull. The flagship mode for the game is called dominion where it's essentially 4v4 of battlefield conquest where you need to capture locations. For me it just turns into one big giant mess, the minions who you can kill in one hit just become a distraction and worse of all it usually ends up being multiple players fighting you if you have a weak link in your team, and honestly you really have no chance then. Maybe it's because I'm not very good but I really do hope they can somehow improve that mode as it has potential.Overall I think it's one of those slow burning games which require plenty of time and patience to eventually reap the rewards and you will eventually get a very satisfying experience and I've no doubt it will spean it's very own hard-core fanbase. I'd love to see two masterful players go head to head, this will definitely come in to esports.
