Purchased this for my grandson in Colorado and finally had a chance to visit and try this out. He had not been successful trying to use this with his parents so he pulled it out and we set it up. He was able to figure out how to use this on his own and we checked out the samples then went out in nature and brought back some of our own. Even the little 2 year old loved looking at the specimens under the microscope. I was able to capture photos with the cell phone. Now I want to purchase one myself.

Wow this is a very good value for that price. I got this for my grandsons on Christmas ages 9 and 11. This was a huge hit!! By the time dinner was over with they had all of it spread out on the table and trying things out. They cannot wait to put many other things on the slides and check it all out. It is made well and has plenty of items to get them started on becoming a scientist! I nice surprise was that I didnt realize that it all came in a very nice hard plastic case. I will purchase this again when the other kids get a little older. I rarely give any product a 5 star but this earned it.

I am not happy with this purchase at all. It's of very poor quality. In college, I started as a science major and have worked with hundreds of microscopes. I bought this for my young grandchildren to use on a science project. When the order arrived and, before I let the children to touch anything, I setup the unit a table and showed the children how to handle the scope and slides. Then I showed them how to focus in on a sample slide from the kit. I tried using each magnification but could never get the unit to focus. Only 1/2 of a circle can be viewed. I didn't spend a lot of money on the unit because the boys are young (8-11 yrs of age). As far as I am concerned, it is a piece of trash and I would not recommend it to any one.Edna Summers.

Great beginner scope for my 6 year old daughter to use for the next few years. Adjusts well and pretty clear at 1200x. Great price for scope and accessories, well-working flip light, and the book. I'm an ecologist so was able to give her a quick tutorial for experienced care, focusing and moving around on slide to examine whole specimens at higher magnification, and she took over from there! I also bought 25 biological slides to supplement the scope.
