I have bought Tahitian, Mexican, Madagascar, and various other grade A Vanilla beans over the years. I have bought Organic Vanilla Paste, Organic Vanilla Extract, etc. I have made extracts out of all of the beans and several different alcohols. The one I liked the least was the Mexican bean in bourbon. That seemed to be the one everyone else loved, but it wasn't the one I knew. I knew Madagascar in Vodka. Still, it seemed off. What I fell in love with was Madagascar in bourbon. I let it sit in a brown bottle, shaking it often, for about a year actually, and the color was beautiful. The taste was rich and layered. Of course, when you bake it into your goods, it bakes out the alcohol but leaves that traditional Madagascar flavor with so much more depth. After straining out the remaining beans/seeds, I poured the vanilla back into a new brown bottle with two fresh beans with the ends cut off and placed it in a dark cabinet. The beans are grade A; I find it worth the money to get grade A beans only. They last longer, are plump and easy to work with, and hold up much better during the extraction process. I've never actually tried to store them outside of alcohol. I buy the amount I need, fresh, when I'm ready to start more batches of vanilla. I like buying the old-fashioned type of brown, 12 oz beer bottles they have here on Bolo, with the flip over ceramic type lid. I use about 8-10 vanilla beans per 12 oz bourbon. Just slice the beans down the length of the whole bean before putting them in the bottle. The bottles need gently shaken every now and then and should sit for at least 3 months before use, but the longer it sits, the more depth of flavor your vanilla will have. These vanilla beans store extremely well in bourbon.

I started making my own vanilla extract using gin and vanilla beans. I ordered these vanilla beans and they have worked perfectly. It was recommended that I use grade A vanilla beans and these fit the bill. I use a pint of gin and drop in 2 packets of the vanilla beans that I split. Then I left in a cool, dark place, shaking the jar every so often. After 6 months, the vanilla extract is ready to use, but after 12 months, it's amazing! Not only do I have an entire pint of vanilla extract, I also squeeze out the "caviar" (the seeds) from the pods for a more intense vanilla flavor. I absolutely recommend these organic, grade A vanilla beans to make a high quality and very economical vanilla extract.

I don't have anything to compare them to but they performed exactly as I expected. They were plump and moist. Although my blender isn't high powered, the beans blended into a smooth bean paste. I tried it in a frappucinno and it didn't disappoint. I wish the weight were listed on the package. It will be ready just in time for holiday baking!

These are such wonderful organic vanilla beans. I can smell them before I opened them - divine! This brand in particular works wonderfully for a variety of things I use them for. I make my own vanilla extract. And I also make natural skincare and body care. I love using the vanilla beans in my whipped body butters, too. These beans are a good size, nice and plump, not dried out at all. Really appreciate how long they last too.

These vanilla beans are the best I have used. I bought some at the grocery store and they were not as full of flavor as these Vanilla Beans. If you want good beans and flavor, buy these!

I’ve purchased vanilla bean pods for years and this year there was an obvious drop in quality. The ones I had left over from last year I bought on Bolo and were the same grade as these but were better quality; more fragrant, six inches long, 1/2 inch wide and plumper.Four of these were about 1/8 of an inch wide while two were almost 1/2 an inch wide, the rest were 1/4 inch wide. All of the vanilla pods were 5 inches long. The skinnier ones were drier and difficult to open and naturally there was less of the vanilla paste inside. The bigger pods were more moist.Next time I’ll buy a more expensive brand and hopefully get better quality vanilla.That being said, these are still a much better value and quality than vanilla beans you buy from the grocery store chains.

This is my first time purchasing vanilla beans but these were wonderful. They were so moist and plump. I’m making vanilla extract for next years Christmas gifts. This is also a first for me so my fingers are crossed. They arrived quickly also.

Arrived quickly, sealed in an airtight vacuum pack. Gorgeous aroma when I opened the pack. I am using it for vanilla extract for baking. Very happy with my purchase.
