I read the review about the clasps being weak on the ones delivered since Christmas, 2016 (seemed to be a different manufacturer) AFTER I had ordered it. I was leery when it came, and they seem secure, but I will take extra precautions to open and close them gently. I plan to keep it in a drawer and just lift it out to select, so I really don't even need the clasps... but I am glad I was warned.The box itself is really nice. The glass lets me know immediately and allows piling of boxes. The outside is covered/coated with a nice "fabric" that will easily wipe off (not sure, but it's not like Mele plush). My next job is to find out if there is a companion box for earring. I can put my larger earrings in this box, along with pendants, but I would like the same size box (for piling) with a little smaller divisions for earrings. Juvale, if you read the comments, let me know if you have one.------------------------------------------------------March 14... Well, Juvale didn't comment that they had another version in that size, so I ordered a second one... Bolo wouldn't let me review it again, so I had to add... seems funny because one can review products they bought a Kohls, but not a second one, and I think it's important to the readers to know that the reviewer liked it so much, she bought again.

Good for the price. Some minor quality issues. FYI, The interior dimensions are 1 inch depth in the box base, 1/2 inch depth on the lid to top of the glass for a total of 1 and 1/2 inches. The useable area inside the box is 13" x 8 and 3/4" The dividers can be removed with no damage to the box. They are friction fit in with no glue holding it in place. I just wanted the box with no dividers and they just slid right out.For the price there are some issues. The fit and finish is a little rough. The faux leather covering the cardboard? composite is not glued down very well so it leaves some ripples in finish. Mine came with a few small bare spots on the edges where the black coating was rubbed off. A permanent marker easily touched it up. Overall it's decent for the price and I use it to display my pocket knife collection. I cut off the ribbon that keeps the lid open and from falling back since it tended to fold over and obscure my collection when the lid was shut. Just be careful because it might put stress on the hinges and area they are mounted on if fully opened. I just use a little dowel to hold the lid open.

I used to have a large standing jewelry armoire but when we moved I gave it away. I have been trying to figure out how to organize my jewelry where I can see it clearly. I really didn't want a big piece of furniture so I went with several of these black velvet boxes that I can keep on my dresser. I now actually wear more of my jewelry.
