Yamaha FC4A Assignable Piano Sustain Foot Pedal
Reviews:
5.0 out of 5 stars it’s a reliable little champ!
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I’ve been using the Yamaha FC4A sustain pedal with my digital piano, and honestly, it’s pretty solid. It feels close to an acoustic piano pedal—smooth and responsive, with a rubber bottom that keeps it from sliding around. Works great with my Yamaha keyboard and even my synth. One hiccup: it doesn’t have a polarity switch, so I had to mess with the power trick to fix the reverse sustain issue (pain in the butt, but it worked). It’s not the heaviest pedal, so it might shift a tad during wild sessions. Still, for the price, it’s a reliable little champ!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great sustain pedal
Arrived fast, well packaged. Works great on my Yamaha keyboard.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pedal With One Small Design Flaw
Just as Yamaha arguably makes the best digital pianos, this is probably the best piano style sustain pedal available. Super quiet and smooth with nice tacky rubber pads on the bottom to help prevent sliding. One small design flaw though, which I believe is with most of these style pedals. If you're pushing the pedal all the way back against a wall or some other hard surface, the wire coming out the back will hit the wall before the casing of the pedal does, possibly eventually causing damage to the wire. I was able to remedy this by attaching a 99 cent store adhesive felt furniture pad on the bottom of the pedal on the back which extends out farther than the wire which prevents the wire from hitting the wall. See photos.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Purchase
Bought this for my Yamaha keyboard. Glad I did. Has same functionality as the Baldwin piano. It's heavy and has a good rubber base. Doesn't move around. I would recommend this product.
4.0 out of 5 stars Been using it for years at my church. Bought one for myself
I really like this pedal. I’ve been using this exact model at my church ever since I was a kid. I was probably 14 when we got the pedal so that was maybe 10 years ago. It still works great and I haven’t had any issues with the functionality. The only thing that’s always bothered me about it though is that it slides around a lot on carpet. Every time I play at church, I have to readjust it and it gets destructing. I even put Velcro on the side of the pedal and the keyboard’s stand to keep it in place. The Velcro has gotten old though so it doesn’t stick as much anymore and still moves around a lot.At home though, my room has a laminate floor so the rubber bottom seems to be able to grip a lot better. The pedal I have at home doesn’t seem to move around as much as the church pedal does.Very durable pedal. Does what it’s supposed to.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works as described
I now own two of these. One for studio, one for live gigs. They are great. Durable and they work exactly as they're supposed to. There are much more expensive versions, but I'm not sure what they offer. I trained on real pianos so I always prefer this style of pedal over a little square plastic switch pedal that some people use. There is a FC3A that has a half sustain function that I'd like to check out. If it works with piano sounds/samples, that might be my preference in the future.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Quality Sustain Pedal!
This pedal is worth every penny! The set up is seamless and quite self explanatory. There are no creaks or weird/unwanted noises from the pedal when it pumped while playing. It’s build quality is exceptional, and stays put on the carpet really well. It doesn’t seem to be made of that cheap, lightweight plastic a lot of the universal pedals are made with. It’s got some weight to it’s base and the pedal itself is weighted quite well so that you do have to put a considerable amount of pressure on it to get it to go down, which is perfect for those of us enthusiastic players! It is not equipped with a Polarity Switch but in my opinion, it doesn’t need one. I own a Yamaha PSR-EW300 and as soon as it was out of the box and plugged in, it worked right away. If you are using it with another brand of keyboard I’d do more research into what pedal would work best for your board and if you’d need one with a Polarity Switch. This pedal is a little bit more pricey than some of the other pedals, after taxes and everything it costed me $31.34 but it’s worth that extra $5 to $10 as it will definitely last longer than majority of the cheaper quality pedals and the sound quality is better as well. Just as a side note, I did receive my pedal with some sort of sticky stuff stuck to it, but a swipe of some Goo Gone and it was history! Another great Yamaha product!
