I lived in Germany for nearly 5 years and learned that they really don't understand "hot" or "spicy." At the same time, it is my favorite and I have bought it for years and will continue to do so.So what they call "Extra Hot," will turn out to be, for Americans, actually a smooth, delicious, medium-level mustard which is very good with any sort of deli, hot dogs, and meats or anything you choose to put mustard on (or in). (That's why I get the 6-pack).You should try a jar. If you are a mustard fan, you'll like it. Really. Just don't get the "medium" or especially the "Bavarian" flavor unless you like sweet condiments.

Germans aren’t known for spicy cuisine, but this mustard is great. Just a bit of heat by normal American standards while having an excellent flavor that pairs well with hotdogs or brats.

I can tell you that this is great mustard! I grew up on this stuff. However, here's the issue I'm having with this particular order, seller. Late, and past the sell by date.In detail:The first issue is delay. My order was placed on a Wednesday with a Friday delivery date. It arrived on Sunday, 2 days late. It's quite possible this was due to some weather issues at the point of origin, I'm willing to give a pass on this.The second issue is the sell by date. The product was delivered on March 20, 2022. The product states "Best Before: See Lid" (photo attached). So if you see the only markings available on the lid, they are as follows : "21 [space space] 119" over the numbers 09:55. So unless there is a secret code with the decoder ring not included, this reads to me like "01/19/21 meaning Jan 19, 2021 (mm/dd/yy) with a time stamp of 09:55. Since it's March 2022, this suggests to me that the product was best used by almost one year ago!It's probably fine, I hope. But it's bad optics for sure. In fairness to the seller, I have not reached out for an explanation from them, yet. You decide for yourself.

So spicy and so yummy! I had this for the first time while I was living in Germany, but it was actually Belgium where I first had it. I kept getting it when I was in Belgium to shop for beer. Then I noticed that it was made in Germany. Now I live in Japan and I sure am glad I can get it on Bolo.

This is a true German mustard with plenty of kick. If you like mustard on your hotdogs and bratwurst, toss the other stuff! I also use to make vinaigrette; Mix a bit with olive oil, lemon juice and a pinch of raw sugar to drizzle over greens or roasted veggies.

Product seemed old/stale/possibly expired... (also, I couldn't figure out the expiration date which seemed deceptive... Nothing dated 2024 or 24) . Not like the taste when fresh and what I experienced often in Germany. A disappointment.
