Specifically, the inlet/outlet as illustrated in the image on the description page looks like a curved throat into a wind tunnel, not like a pipe opening.The label on the received item says the capacity is 150 CFM, not 167 CFM as stated in the product description, but the 167 CFM (according to Fantech technical support) is for static, unloaded operation, and the 150 CFM is for operation under load. The variance is not mentioned in the product description and probably would be found exceptionable only by "outsiders", who may not realize that rating a fan in unloaded operation would be one reasonably simple, standard metric for comparison purposes.The inlets and outlets have outside diameter of 3.95" (by caliper measurement), but the shoulder of the inlet/outlet allows a snug fit to the wide end of the Fernco part 1051-44 Flex Coupling when pushed down firmly to the wiring junction box on the side of the FR110. The other end of the coupling fits perfectly on 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC, which is my application. This is key information for people with this application, and it took me hours of looking before finally obtaining the info from Fantech tech support.By the way, I would give Fantech support five stars for their extra effort to actually pull an FR110 off the shelf and check the fit to a metal duct for a grill -- which is not my application, but it shows the level of Fantech support. When I called, the staff was busy helping others so I left my name and number, and they actually called me back right away. Twice.Finally, the quality of the received item seems very high, to be confirmed through operation over time.

The fan itself is great. It is practically silent as compared to my old radon fan. Fan motor and blade are German made. Outer assembly by a US firm.The big issue is the fan dimension. It is not actually 4 inch. It will not fit any standard 4 inch schedule 40/80 for 4 inch PVC. I tried every single coupling and pipe at Home Depot, none would fit. I believe it is really 3" 1/2 standard schedule 40, which has a 4 inch outer diameter (good luck finding a coupling, etc.).The fix: buy a small section of standard schedule 40, 4 inch pipe. Cut two one inch lengths on a band saw (or whatever the coupling length is on the top and bottom of the fan assembly). These two collars will fit, but with a small inner gap on the top and bottom of the fan assembly. Buy a small tube of calk/sealer/adhesive. Make sure it has the adhesive component. Use the calk/sealer/adhesive to take up the small gap between the fan assembly and the collars you just made. When dry, I added 4 small sheet metal screws to the top and bottom collar for a permanent fix.The fan now fits absolutely perfectly in a standard 4 inch schedule 40 coupling.

I use this fan for a radon remediation system. The fan is mounted on PVC pipe outside my home. The previous fan lasted about 2 years and then became exceptionally noisy perhaps because the installer did not place a vent cap on the piping of the exhaust line.After 2 calls over 8 months to the original installer, I finally decided to repair the unit myself. Using the wiring of the previous unit as a template, the job was fairly simple taking less than an hour to complete.

It sure pays to spend a bit more and buy a quality product! This fan is excellent in every way. Definitely NOT China! Made in Germany; assembled in the US. So well made it reminds me of the old days when things were actually build to last. Details. It is totally silent. Virtually 0 noise from the fan. Only the sound of wind, with a slight hum if you listen really hard. Everything about this unit is top level - even the system for attaching the power wire. The fan is pre-wired into a Molex connector. Just slip in the power wires and tighten the screws. And several powering options are provided, with different connections on the Molex.The only possible negative comment would be regarding the attachment of the mounting bracket to the fan body. Screws were provided but that would have meant driving metal screws right through the fan housing. Fearing coming too close to the impellers I chose instead to use two part, high strength epoxy to attach the mounting plate. It worked well. Overnight setup. Did the job without compromising the integrity of the air chamber.

I remodeled a basement bathroom and needed to use an inline fan instead of a traditional fan because of space issues. Over a period of months I researched fans and settled on Fantech. The fan works great and is really quiet. It's mounted to a wall behind the shower and I was concerned people would hear the fan in the family room 15' away, but the operation is virtually silent. There is a little whirring sound if I open the door, but it's almost undetectable. Inside the bathroom there is more noise, but it's not from the motor. Rather, it's the sucking sound of air being pulled out.There are 2 things I don't like.1) There is no ground to wire to within the box. I don't understand this decision by Fanteck, but the motor is mounted and working, but there the ground sire is tucked in and not in use. Strange to me.2) The mounting device includes rubber grommets, but it's not clear which screws should be used: the long ones or short ones. This is because the shorts ones seem too short. The instructions could be clearer about this.
Better price and delivery schedule than any local suppliers.

The quietest movement of air I have ever heard
Pros: very quiet, even comes with little rubber isolators for mounting. One solid piece of plastic so no worries about condensation leaking anywhere, moves at least as much air as they say. Buy with confidence.Cons: price? It's a bit pricy but after trying some cheap thing from China which moved less air than a fart, this thing is a golden example of buy once, cry once. Don't be fooled by cheaper options.
Quiet and effective
It's only been in place for about a month, but it works well and it's far quieter than its predecessor. Electrician installed it in about five minutes. All good.
Loud. Sounds like a bearning is going.
Have FN110. Very loud. Had the FN 100 and it doesn’t compare. Will return and get another. Maybe just a bad one
