This is the stuff to get and I'll tell you house to use it:We had glue EVERYWHERE, the simple answer of 'use a putty knife' was not going to do the trick, we had glue in all the little crevices of our engineered white oak. So this is what to do--1. Order this-- get two for your sanity.2. Get all other materials, some heavy duty latex gloves, plastic putty knife (get a pack of a few), basic kitchen sponges, some rags, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a nylon brissell scrub brush with a handle.*This will take you hours, literally hours and multiple days, but it will come up.3. Once this arrives clean the surface, vacuum it all well so you can just keep moving once you get in the groove.4. Pick a spot and work intentionally in a line from one end to the other-- wearing your gloves, spread a thin layer on a small cube size area with the kitchen sponge, hang tight for a minute but it doesn't have to sit for as long as you think. Start with the putty knife and scrape any big bits up, get in between the board with the putty knife as well. Have a wet rag next to you to discard the glue that comes up. Next, the nylon brush, use this to scrape the excess glue that has sunk into the crevices or extra left between the boards. Wipe with a damp rag and move to your next cube of a section making a line across your room. It's slow but methodical, IT WILL WORK and the glue WILL come up, it just takes time. The nylon brush really is the secret sauce in this equation, with manufactured floors the good news is they're meant to be tough and you can scrub pretty hard with no surface or finish wear (really!) After your done with a decent chunk of space use a bona with warm water and dish soap to wipe the excess away-- Honestly, you'll have the brand new floors you were expecting. Oh, and get a comfy pillow for your knees!Best of luck, you've got this!
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Like A Charm
This stuff is a miracle liquid! During installation of my new flooring with Bostik glue, we managed to dribble and track it everywhere! Mineral spirits just didn’t cut it. Two weeks after installation and glue was dry. We used it today and the glue came up so easily. We just rubbed with a cloth and up it came. We did not need to let it sit on it at all but bits that did get a little soak time definitely came up easier. As others have said, it does leave a wee bit of an oily residue, but I just mopped afterwards with hot soapy water and we are good to go. :)One downfall was the way it was packaged for delivery...it had leaked through the interior ziplock bag (that had also been taped shut) out through to the exterior of the envelope. A significant amount of the product was at the bottom of the bag. It must have been hit or squeezed really hard in transit as the protective seal under the cap had a hole which is where it was leaking from.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works well
This product works very well considering that the dried urethane glue is EXTREMEMLY difficult to remove, especially after a week or so. It also has an acceptable smell. We followed the instructions to apply remover and allow it to set for 5 minutes, but got better results spreading a thin coat of the remover over large areas of flooring and allowing it to sit for 30 minutes to an hour, then scrubbing with a towel attached to a broom like mop. For tough spots, a plastic spoon or plastic putty knife help. To remove the remover, we used a semi-wet bath towel, dragging it full-size across the floor. Be prepared to spend some time and energy if you have very much adhesive to remove, but it will come off. Also, paint thinner, lacquer thinner, WD40, alcohol --- virtually no effect at all on the glue.
5.0 out of 5 stars Removed 100% of adhesive left by cheap runners
I purchased this over a year ago in the advice of men who installed my engineered hard wood floors. I never used it until this week. I put down some themed runners for a house party and was in panic mode when I saw the large glue and adhesive stains ground into my beautiful floors when we pulled up runners after the teen party. Runners had gotten wet with kids running in an out of house and in and out of pool. Adults were suggesting WD 40, vinegar, etc. I googled the recommended product and lo and behold it was in my cabinet lonely and forgotten. I followed instructions by sopping a little into the 8-10 large areas. I waited 5 minutes and rubbed gently and not so gently in circular and linear motions. It left immediately. I used soft cloth to get excess and it's all gone. My dark engineered floors look new. It's magical! Get this now!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Removed Glue after Years!
I bought my house several years ago. When I moved in, I noticed that the wooden floors always looked dirty no matter how much I cleaned them. Then I noticed boot prints and streaking. I called Cali Bamboo, the flooring manufacturer, and they recommended Bostik. Amazingly enough, the dried glue came off with Bostik even after at several years. It was quite disgusting the amount of goop that came off, especially since it had been attracting dirt for years. I used a plastic scraper and lots of rubbing to get it off, but it was well worth the effort. The floors look beautiful!
3.0 out of 5 stars Leaves oily surface on wood floor
It does work well on removing glue but it leaves behind an oily surface . I have tried everything to get the oil off my wood floors and nothing works. I have emailed the company to see how to get it off. Because of the oily surface it leaves foot prints/ shoe prints on the floor .
5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY product that worked
The same story I've heard from many people...floor installers did not clean up the adhesive on the wood while installing and it left a cloudy film everywhere on our brand new floors. We tried cleaning, scrubbing, you name it. This was by far the most effective product, BUT we used it in conjunction with a magic eraser (we read it on a blog somewhere) and it worked wonders. We also bought several other products that claimed to do the same thing but nothing else worked.
