It is costly, but it's the only thing that works and I have no idea why. I had zero acne in my teenage years, but after having my 3rd baby in my 20's my hormones and chemistry must have changed because I've had difficult adult acne for the past 10 years (I'm 36). I used this for several years in my 20's with great results, but then I tried to move to cheaper things or stuff that is supposed to be better and healthier for your skin. Nothing else works. I tried Differin gel for a year, I tried only using sensitive skin cosdna approved face wash for a year, (CeraVe, Cetaphil), I tried the Neutrogena salicylic acid soaps and lotions (the orange pump bottle, the pink grapefruit line), I tried going to the dermatologist and going on a clindamycin cream, I took vitamins, I went dairy free, I even just recently tried the Curology line for about 10 months (with 3 formula changes to attempt to get better results) with absolutely no dice. I even tried the Neutrogena & Clean & Clear benzoyl peroxide creams you can get in drug stores. Nope! Maybe they'd work a little, or just for a little while, but my face has honestly just been looking terrible. I gave up and spent the money on a bottle of the step 3 Proactiv and what do you know, after 3 days my face looks better than it has in a couple years. It is pretty drying, if you ask me, and I have sensitive (obviously) acne prone oily skin. I know they say benzoyl peroxide is bad for your skin, and you can get other benzoyl peroxide creams in any big box store, but this is just the only one that works and works well, and my skin looks so much clearer with it, I don't care if it's bad for my skin. It's better than the horrific acne and leftover red blemishes all over my face. I recommend.

I have had problems with my acne since my teens. When I discovered the Proactiv line in my early 20's, I was hooked - it was also very expensive because you could ONLY buy it from the Proactiv company as a subscription. Eventually, I had to try and find other products and nothing quite working like Proactiv - even the "Compared To" products you can find at department stores. Other products would work for a short time, but nothing worked long term. Proactiv is also the only product that I felt comfortable going out without makeup because my skin just looked that good with my acne-prone skin and all the aftermath that comes with it. To give you an idea, I started to model without foundation after I started using Proactive without needing detailed touchups on the photos. Now that Proactiv is available on Bolo - with Prime and is cheaper - I am back on the Proactiv bandwagon and proud of it! :-) Thank you, Bolo for carrying Proactiv! This is an excellent product. I have tried many products, but this is by far the most effective for me. Unfortunately it's also the most expensive. I've tried many salicylic acid products, but they don't seem to work for me. I've tried the Acne Free and Neutrogena products without much luck. I'm somewhat sensitive to fragrances, but Proactiv has a nice soft scent that doesn't bother me. I used Proactiv in the past, but tried to find a more affordable product. Unfortunately I didn't find anything effective enough to replace the Proactiv. I also didn't want to deal with the company directly after they charged me for an additional $50 order more than two weeks after cancelling my subscription, then failed to refund me after I returned the product. I prefer to purchase products as needed rather than being forced into a subscription. Bolo provides me the option of buying as needed. This product works great, I just wish the price wasn't this offensive.
