this set of 4 dvds is excellent. i have studied martial arts for 25 years including american kempo, shaolin kempo, kung fu, jiu jitsu, and krav maga.i can honestly say this is the best i have seen. they are so good, in fact, that it is like physically attending a seminar.they have a well-lit and sound proof studio with a narrator explaining everything that is happening. at regular speed, at half speed, and at slow speed. they even repeat the moves so that you do not need to rewind the dvd to see if you missed something.the moves are numerically sequenced so that you can refer back to a specific one and not have to review the whole dvd.the best feature was the fact that they somehow were able to visually overlay symbols to emphasize the right way of doing things and the wrong way. circles are also used to highlight and explain what is important.with this added technology, you do not need to ask questions about a certain series of moves, they have already answered it. amazing !there were several moves that i really liked..actually there were many. #35 Mixed Grill, #58 Spin to the Ground, #107 Pinching under the Arms, and #109 Snake Fingers. OK, i laughed at one. It was #138 Paper/Magazine Strike ot the Groin. It was so unexpected that it caught me off-guard.The two combatants were John on Defense and Jeff on Offense. They were exemplary in this production.The whole production was first class and I am lookiing forward to the advanced combat moves set of dvds.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this DVD set. There is a ton of good information here and it is well explained and demonstrated. A beginner who is looking for a good place to start learning about personal protection will find clear instruction that is easily followed. The more seasoned practitioner will find some nice variations on techniques they may already know. Quite simply, this is one of the best bargains out there for a self protection program, and gives you tons of "bang for your buck"....Buy it - you won't be disappointed.

Alex has done great Job,no doubt Training in real time is different and getting black belt in class is long and hard job but if you learn this from Alex in these DVDs you will definitely be out of league and can defend yourself.Some of the techniques can get down opponent in few seconds.Overall Alex did great Job and this is useful for anyone right from Novice to Expert.Great Job and great peace of work and good way of propagating martial arts.

This is an excellent for self defense combos. My husband has been a martial artist his whole life. He wanted something to give him some ideas on different combo techniques to put together as he has started teaching at an out reach program. He has only been sparring and working on his competion skills and forgotten many things that he had learned through the years. this was an excellent refresher for him.

Having a Tae Kwon Do and a Kickboxing background I'm always eager to learn new techniques or just brush up on existing ones and this DVD is exactly what I have been looking for. Regardless of your particular style, the lengthy and informative instruction found in this DVD set is really without equal.Yes I'm sure you could find a lot of this on the net but you have to remember that all the moves, defences, locks, take downs and the rest are all presented one after another in a fluid, detailed style by the same instructors throughout all the 140 techniques shown and this makes a huge difference.Not only that you do truly get truly exceptional value - 4 DVD's and 3 hours worth of training for less than £15 (at the time of writing this review). This alone puts it way above many other similar instructional DVD's who often only offer one DVD for that price and usually rather bad ones at that.By the way after this initial purchase, I was so impressed that I immediately went and purchased the follow up to this DVD 140 Advanced Combat Moves, 4 x DVD Self Defence Home Study Course.Oh did I mention it's a British DVD? That's a refreshing change too. Top marks from me guy's!

Review for 140 Combat Moves
There are not to many self defence DVD box sets about so I was very cautious about the quality and understandability of this product. The DVD course set is excellent, the defence moves are in real time as well as in slow motion and are repeated many times. The voice over is excellent, clear and well spoken leaving no possibilities for errors. The videos are also paused to show techniques with arrows and other indications. I have shown my girlfriend and my nephew some of these techniques and they are easy in most part to remember. I didn't realise it could be so easy to defend myself should anything happen, I would highly recommend this to anyone wishing to learn self defence.
