I got this on a whim, I usually use garnier fructis surfer hair power putty but I like this better cause it’s a more drier , less greasy and better smelling product. It’s also a lot more natural so I feel like it damages my hair less yet keeps a great hood all day long . To the folks who say it’s greasy probably just need to use less of it , every head of hair & scalp is different though so YMMV. I also tried the HAIR DOUGH brand recently now that stuff is GREASY AF .

This was bought on sale. With a cheap price in consideration, this has been a great product to use. I would like slightly more hold, but what it provides with the matte look, I can't really complain. I don't use it often as I only put product when going out, but when I do, I never have shiny hair, nor desire to have my hair shine. The matte look is great for a beach/surfer style look. Hold is decent on shorter hair and havent had issues applying it evenly through my hair. I don't feel that it clumps strands together and keeps shape throughout the day, even if I'm sweaty.

This product was perfect because you only need the smallest amount to give hair hold in texture without it looking like it has gel or hairspray in it. It’s really workable and movable and perfect for my son’s fauxhawk. The smell is very nice and like I said it only takes a little bit so this stuff is going to last forever. I use like a P sized amount on my two year olds hair.

Update: Changed from 5 stars. Only 1 month after rediscovering this they changed the formula. They added more water and synthetic ingredients, and also added vaseline and animal derived ingredients. Blue lid is from last month and black lid is from my reorder today.Most importantly it is no longer matt. It's shiny and greasy.Original review for old formula: I haven't seen this in 20 years. After it disappeared from stores I switched to Surf Hair from a different brand, which was replaced by a worse version they called Surfer Hair. I've only found 2 truly matte hair products in the last 25 years (I'm 40 now). This one has way better hold and volume while allowing your hair to look product free. It smells really good too. It's definitely worth trying if you're looking for something to add volume and shape while not being shiny and greasy, and also at a good price.

Well I got long hair and it holds my hair in place so well and easy to adjust the hair. Got to say it's better than bed head for sure because lasts longer and better value for it.

Der „Beach-Look“-Effekt sieht absolut natürlich aus und verleiht meinem Haar Struktur und Griffigkeit, ohne es zu verkleben oder auszutrocknen. Besonders toll finde ich, dass man mit nur wenigen Sprühstößen sofort mehr Volumen und einen coolen, lässigen Look bekommt – als käme man direkt vom Strand. Die Anwendung ist super einfach, und das Produkt lässt sich problemlos in trockenes oder leicht feuchtes Haar einarbeiten. Auch der Duft ist angenehm frisch, nicht aufdringlich. Ich habe feines Haar, aber mit der Strandmatte wirkt es deutlich voller und texturierter. Es hält den ganzen Tag über gut, ohne dass ich ständig nachstylen muss.
