The 4 stars is for the product itself. It's a very nicely made tool box, good size for my two year old, and the tools are a good size and seem good quality (I haven't given it to her yet). As others have mentioned, there are two bolts that are plastic. Everything else is wood. I don't mind, and I'm sure the plastic makes them usable. I really like the vibrant colors, and I am a fan of Hape toys in general. I do wish it came with more screws and nails (it includes two each), which brings me to my issue with the order... the product page when I bought it clearly said it's a 30 piece set, and it's not. There are 14 pieces in the box, and the box clearly says there are 14 pieces. I don't know where the 30 comes from - even if you counted the toolbox itself as 6 pieces (counting each side, the bottom, and the handle, that would still only be 20, and still misleading.To Bolo's credit, I contacted them and they offered me a return or a partial refund and keep it. I opted to keep it because I know my daughter won't care and I think the price is fair for what I received, but it is disappointing to receive something with less than half as many pieces as promised.

It’s cute, it’s super functional (the screw drivers fit into the screws, the hammer can remove the “nails”, etc. ). Our 15 month old was interested in our real tools, and this was a perfect addition to his toy set to continue nursing his curiosity about household items while keeping him safe. I think the price is reasonable and it fits well on our shelves so it’s easy to store! I love Hape!

Our 16 month old grandchild is JUST getting to the age to really use this toy. She can push the screws through the holes and she likes to play with the wooden pieces and hold and carry the little tools. She’s a bit too little to actually use the tools and combine the wooden pieces but we are sure she will love doing this as she gets older. She loves carrying the tool box full of pieces.

I purchased this set for my nephew at 18 m/o, and over the past three months he has really developed a finer tuning of his motor skills. Initially he could primitively hold the hammer, wrench and screw driver, but now three months later he's advanced to competently driving and prying nails, screwing together bolts and nuts, and generally having much more deliberate tactile and "mechanical" abilities. The quality is superb compared to cheaper US domestic manufacturers, with all surfaces being smooth, and well painted/jointed -- Definitely worth paying the minimal premium for a better play and educational experience.

I got the 17pc Fix-It Tool Box for my grandson, and it’s been a hit! He loves playing with the colourful tools and pretending to be a little handyman.
