Sleeping bags will also take awhile to warm up with body heat, and any wind drafts/gaps will quickly become uncomfortable (especially the darkest hours around 5-6am).This was so cheap, it was a no brainer to give it a shot. I figured I can use this as a sleeping bag liner of sorts, and/or a blanket layering system when it’s not as cold.I’ve only tested it out at home thus far, but I’m very satisfied with it. The trick is to use a layer system just like dressing for the cold; Put another layer on top of this heating blanket and you’ll be so toasty. Yes, you can feel the wires inside the fairly soft fabric if you’re feeling around for them, but not when it’s just on you.The amp / wattage draw is very reasonable at ~3.42 amp / 41watt. It can easily be powered by a 250watt portable power station for 6 hours, which should be enough for what I need. It heats up within a few minutes too! Most vehicles will have ~600watt battery, but you should not discharge more than ~40% to make sure you can still have enough voltage to start the car. Simple math means you’ll have about 240watts, and should not plug into a vehicle’s starter battery for more than 6 hours if it’s not running.As others have said, no on/off switch or temperature adjustment, but it’s easy enough to wire a switch myself, so I’ll be doing that.On a slightly side note, I’d recommend car campers/overlander to pick up a 500watt+ power station and charge the power station throughout the day with the vehicle running or solar.

This is a really great blanket to keep in the car. It gets warm enough to radiate some heat, but not quite as blazing hot as say, a heating pad. Worked out for a road trip as well. One of my passengers gets cold easily, and this kept them cozy without sweating the rest of us out in the car!It is nice and soft but can be a bit static-y depending on the day/what you're wearing. It cannot be machine washed, which is understandable, but spot cleaning has been easy enough. I will keep this in my car now for fall/winter in case of any roadside emergencies, and for future road trips or tailgating!

I was leary about buying this after reading a bunch of reviews about it but it's really cold and it was originally bought for my dog in mind. She's a Papillon and gets cold easy. The first time I used it "I" used it because after reading the reviews I wanted to know if it worked. It's been below zero here lately so great time to try it... I put the blanket over my legs and plugged it in, immediately it helped the cold, its a nice blanket, it did warm up a bit but not what I expected it to. It's certainly not nearly as warm as my one in the house but it does get quite comfortable. It takes a bit to warm up but being so cold that's understandable I guess. It certainly does help knock the edge off the cold though without even being plugged in. I don't shiver and shake anymore. The fleece blanket is a really nice blanket with or without heat. It does warm up rather well, I don't think it needs to be much warmer... me... I'd prefer it as warm as I could because I'm a real cold person anyhow, we're talking fleece lined leggings under pants, extra sox, shirt, sweatshirt, coat, hat, mittens. But with just sweatpants on it kept me nice and toasty. I had it on today and over me, my dog was shaking cold so she came and sat on the blanket. Her shivers quit and she didn't wanna get off the blanket. It will be just fine for us and I'm very happy with the purchase. We will not go cold anymore!

My wife's car has heated seats, which she LOVES. My truck does not, which she often comments on when riding shotgun in colder weather. This was an alternative to a heated pad for my truck, as I figured this way she could wrap her legs and/or torso (it is plenty big enough to do so) if so moved. After 3 uses it has her hearty endorsement, and so now rides along in the truck in a storage bag I had lying around. It really deserves 5 stars, but I knocked one off for not being provided with a storage bag and not having a temp control. It can simply be unplugged to provide reasonable heat control, so call me persnickety. I really have no complaints at this price point. It's also reasonably attractive, if a bit woodsy-kitschy. Nice light weight, fits readily in a 14" duffle.

When the diesel heater glitches out, this blanket has allowed me to sleep down to 10 degrees F when put under me with a heavy down duvet on top. Heats up quickly, then the insulation layers do the work to retain my body heat+ electric addition. I've not yet had to run this overnight which was the vision, but I have run it for 6 hours without incident. Don't want to sleep on heat- bad for the organs. So I unplug it.Blanket itself is a crappy flannel, feels cheap. I wonder what it takes to electrify an existing blanket with the wire they used to compensate. Regardless- this does the trick.

Ok, I see alot of negative reviews for the 12volt blanket. A lot saying it dosent get hot, or it's not that warm. First off , this is a 12volt blanket, made of polyester. These 12 volt blanket aren't made to heat up like a house electric blanket. There 12 volt. They do what 12 volts can do..These blankets aren't going to defrost meat lol. You use this blanket to maintain your body heat, so hyperthermia dosent set in. They'll keep you alive if stranded in your car in severe cold weather. Their not powerfull enough for you to enjoy a tropical paradise of comfort. Use common sense. Use the blanket before youre stone cold. This is a 12volt blanket. Expectations of a home electric blanket is ridiculous. Once you understand that ,you'll realize this is a excellent 12volt blanket for the price.

Heats up quickly and works great!
We have used this blanket in our vehicle in extreme cold without any issues. Heats up fast, has lasted 3 years now and still going strong.
Good Blanket
A good quality blanket. It is soft and a great size for my lap. I’m happy with the amount of heat it produces. It would be nice if there were a control switch allowing for better temperature control settings. It is spot clean only as well. Overall, I like it and I’m glad I bought it.

I bought this blanket for school pick up. No idling is allowed outside of the school and it gets really cold sitting in a car that has been turned off for more than 45 minutes. This blanket warms up within a couple of minutes and really keeps you warm. You don't have to have the car on ... It can heat up from your car's battery. I've sat in my car for sometimes upwards of 45 minutes using the blanket and charging it from my car's battery. if you're going to do this it's important that your car battery has an opportunity to recharge. For me personally I have a drive upwards of an hour afterwards so my battery gets to recharge on the drive home. This product is brilliant! I love it!! I recommend it to everyone the needs this type of solution.
