There are plenty of reviews out there on this Mill, so I won't repeat the details here. Go check hossmachine.com, for a lot of cool information and mods, including CNC mods. That was the deciding point on my buying this mill, as opposed to other similar BF20 based mills. Nothing bad about the other variants, and some of the vendors out there are superb (PM Matthews), but the G0704 is for me, the best blank canvas for modifications. Eventually, I will CNC it, and add a larger motor and belt drive (3 phase with a VFD, that I already have). Shipping from Grizzly was handled flawlessly (although most of the credit goes to the carrier, and just luck), but absolutely no damage at all. One trick I would like to share with all, is that to hoist the machine off the pallet and onto the cabinet, I used a 'Lil Giant' adjustable ladder opened up with a 4x4 atop the top rungs, and a WEN 120V portable winch that I had. Using a short web strap wrapped around the lowered head..You could do the same with a $45 1 ton chain hoist from harbor freight. The key is the ladder needs to be tall enough to clear the cabinet. I use a woodtek mobile base under my cabinet, and that allowed the stationary hoist to work. Other way , would be to use an engine/shop crane. Another thing to note, is there is a mis print in the owners manual, during break in, it says to run it in forward, then reverse at various speeds. Reverse will run only one half the speed, especially at the higher rates. This is normal.

I'm a hobbyist, so i may not know what a industrial type machine is like to work on. as a hobbyist my issues with the machine would be the backlash on the Y and X axis. it would be very difficult to do layout work, even with the ways given decent tension there is 1/8 turn on the handle backlash. teh Z-axis hand wheel has discontinuous marks on it, so i'm not sure how that is going to work. the included DRO for the quill is good enough for Z movement less than 1.5" however. however i overcame this by installing $250 glass-side DRO to Y and X axis use a wobbler edge finder, and that makes it a dream to do layout work. next the milling operation would be tedious to do, due to the difficulty moving X axis at a constant speed. however adding a power feed to the X-axis is very useful. the T-slots table has a very uncommon slot size, i have not found a T-nut that works on this without modification. also the base of the machine is very narrow, and installing machine feet in the provided locations will cause the machine to vibrate and rock, i made an angle iron base with a very wide footprint and this really helps, moving the Z-axis handle really causes a tendency to rock forward and back.the benefits to the machine are that it is very popular and many of the issues are discussed at length on the web. the construction is pretty good, hand scrapped ways, covers, adjustability etc. like many imported tools many frustrations are alleviated if you think of it as a 95% assembled kit for a really nice mill. there is tooling available from Bolo for R-8 collects to do about any task.

The machinery overheated and shut down to "cool cycle" for over an hour after a few attempts at use. We do own a manufacturing facility and so this didn't meet our needs for a piece of equipment that could handle our demands.

This machine is built well, and works like a charm. You can easily install some DROS for around a hundred bucks, I did and it makes thing a lot easier than counting dials.

Product came pretty much pre-assembled. Item only needed minor tweaking to be spot on. Had a small issue with delivery but delivery service went above and beyond to work things out. Highly recommended for the price, looking forward to years of use.

The machine (Grizzly G0704 Drill Mill with Stand) looks fine. and is reasonably accurate when it works. Eventually the motor will stop rotating. After checking all the basic possibilities I.E. fuses, connections, speed control potentometer I replaced the motor. This did not fix the problem. I called Grizzly service and they were no help. I replaced circuit board reference no. 81. This did not fix the problem. I am now in the process of ordering circuit board reference no. 78. Hopefully that is where the problem is. So far I am into the fix for over $250. In the future I would stay away from Grizzly machines that have variable speed controls and DC motors. They all are garbage and you will be wasting your $$$$. Grizzly is absolutely no help with repair information. All they want to do is get you off the phone and have you purchase something.
