This cheese was OLD when it arrived, and was not made any better by being melted on a Raclette Melter. We used to live in Switzerland, and this French 1/2-wheel of Raclette, 6-7lbs, was $125 of WASTED money, because it arrived on time, with the freezer packs still cold, and we immediately put it in the fridge. Three days later we invited 24 people to our Raclette party, and everyone at the Fondue instead of the Raclette because the Raclette was OLD and OFF and Beyond Its Freshness Plausibility. If you know cheese, you know that a certain amount of "ageing" is okay and we as a family very much like strong cheese. But this had that very distinctive High Ammonia smell that tells you unequivocally it is gone, not coming back, and not just a case of "scrape off the rind and inside will be fine" -- we tried this, and even 1/2-way through the same high ammonia smell and flavor was there, so we turned off the melter and everyone stopped tasting it, which was normal because everyone only had one taste before NOT coming back for more -- and if you know Raclette, you know that it's delicious, gooey, melty, and people can't help themselves coming back for more. So I am writing this review to let other purchasers beware, and because when I tried to Return It I was given the Bolo Indifference Engine message, 'This Product is Not Eligible for Return" and there is no place to communicate with the Seller. So watch out for this product, and this seller, as I suspect their supply chain is simply a little backed up, and perhaps they only get folks purchasing a 1/2 wheel every so often, and as a result we ordered 'the cheapest one available' and now wish we'd shelled out the heftier price tag for the real Raclette cheese wheel from Switzerland.Buyer beware: it's Old, and Ammonia Flavored, and You Cannot Return It Once It Is Purchased...

This cheese tasted a lot stronger than normal. I'm not sure what happened.The cheese spend longer than planned in transit. Once it arrived, I placed it in the fridge with-out opening the air tight plastic film. Once I opened it 10 days later, some of the crust was filmy (no real surprise here), after removing the edges, we proceeded to eat our cheese using our new raclette grill. Needless to say it was quite a disappointment that the did was so strong tasting. While still edible for my french taste buds, It was not well received by my guests.

This is the best cheese in the world!!First time I bought it, i also got scared of the smell... but a little education and i realized that it suppose to smell like that. My family is in love with this cheese, i bought it now for the third time. Makes excellent panini even just with one slice of cheese between 2 slices of bread (of course you can add some salami, slice of tomato, etc) I also melted it in the oven with a spoon of heavy cream and i poured it over boiled potatoes... it is to die for!i served my friends and they all loved it, they want to order it too. It is really the best cheese i ever had in my life (and i am Italian, i had many good cheeses in my long life)... it is also much better than the Swiss raclette, way better and cheaper!

but I didn't expect it to be for that price. Good service, phenomenal packaging and shipping, a nice, mild, soft French raclette. Perfect for serving to folks who are first time Raclette eaters and may find objection to a strong Swiss cheese.
