A wonderful 2 slabs of vinyl: clean sound and interesting liner notes. Only thing missing is no info on when/where recorded or with whom but after some close listening and research I reckon:side1 tracks 1,2,3,5 and side4 tracks 3&4 are from The Delta Blues of Son Houseside1 track 4, side2 (all), side3 tracks1,3&5 and side4 tracks1,2&5 are from the Library of Congress recordings by Alan Lomax from 1941-2side3 track6 sounds like Fiddlin' Joe Martin (mandolin) andWillie Brown (2nd guitar) from 1941 Klack's Store, Lake Cormorant,MississippiMy Black Mama sounds like 1930 but I don't know what sourceDry Spell Blues is an old scratchy (78?) so it's probably Paramount recording from May 28, 1930If anyone can tell me about Preachin' The Blues, Four O'clock Blues and I Shall Not Be Moved I would appreciate it.The songs are all rivetting - singing and guitar work as only Son House can do. I guess Mississippi Fred McDowell is in the same league.

All over the map, early Library of Congress recordings from the 1930s mixed with "live" outings from the 1960s, but a terrific collection nonetheless, a well-rounded portrait of one of the great blues artists of all time.

Loved the album! The packaging was horrible! 3 out of 4 corners were crimped. I can't believe the album wasn't damaged! If you ever buy from this seller, insist on the rigid zipper style cardboard packaging. Album 5 stars. Packaging 1 star!

サン・ハウスを知ってYouTubeで聞いて圧倒されました。ロバート・ションスンを初めて聞いたような衝撃でした。それでＣＤ購入を考えたのですが、どれがいいのかわからず・・・。不安ながらも二枚組みのこの廉価版を買いました。いい！最高！！初心者の僕でも楽しめる！！ゲット・ラウドでジャック・ホワイトが衝撃を受けたと言っていた楽器を使わず手拍子だけで歌うというあの歌、これが聞けてとても嬉しい。そういえば歌ってる人はサンじゃないですがブルース・ブラザース2000のオープニングでこの曲が使われてましたね。この手のＣＤに多いのが、ディスク1とディスク2がテイクは別だけど曲かぶってるというもの。それがこのＣＤにはありません。レビューがなくて「これどうなんだろう・・・」と不安に思っていた僕ですが、いやはや買ってよかった。32曲をこの価格で聞けるなんてすごい！！とにかくオススメです！僕みたいなサン・ハウス初心者にも。

This is a terrific collation of Son Houses work. It is both heartfelt and beautiful to the ear. You will love the Delta Blues forever and you'll notice Son House's influence on modern rock in Cream, Canned Heat, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones ... I might add this is physically a lot of music for the price.
