I've been filling and refilling without thinking to wash it after all this time (oh yeah, I'm embarrassed.) So imagine my shock that the oil was still clean tasting and useable! The pot/brush handle is moderately thick steel; the brush head is silicone and also moderately thick. In the presence of oil, the heavy weight of each forces a much better adherence between brush lid and container. I did, however, clean them in the dishwasher and they turned out very well. Caution: some dishwasher detergents have too much perfume which is not appropriate for flavoring food.I highly recommend Cuisinart CBP-116 Sauce Pot and Basting Brush Set!

Bought this about a year ago for my husband. This has performed so well. Easy to clean, just pop it in the dishwasher. The lid fits nicely and provides some protection from the grill/smoker heat as well as keeping the bugs out of the sauce. The brush is silicone and so far has held up great. Would recommend 100%.
