Every product stands in relation to the competition. I recently purchased this item before I saw the 1:400 model by Academy Models. Purchasers need to note that this item is not returnable and I now know why. It is cheaply made and requires many additional tools, like paint, lots of it. The small quantities that are supplied are a joke and poor quality. You will need many cans of spray paint. The Academy Model is comes fully painted with the hull fully assembled and for $10 less. Do not buy this item. Buy the Academy Model instead. Academy has a better box to store the parts and better instructions.

I can't claim to be an expert at building models, this is only my 3rd 1/400 titanic, i've also done three 1/700 and a 1/1200. (wanted to try each of the three ?major? brands), Airfix, Academy and Revell, so i did one of each of the 1/700 and the 1/400.......there were a couple things i liked better about this one, but overall it's my least favorite of all of them, and in fact, despite not really having issues with the 1/700 Revell, based on my experience with this 1/400 i probably won't ever do a Revell model again. ONE plus is it lets you practice your airbrushing, as the hull comes entirely black, so you have to get the railings white, and the bottom red (none of the brands give you anywhere enough paint, so it really doesn't make sense to include them). I recommend either of the other brands i mentioned, just NOT Revell, worst experience putting together a model i've had.

Cheap. Brittle plastic that breaks. Directions are not in english. Glue doesn’t work. Horrible quality. Waste of almost $100.

I thought that I should add this model to my "retirement pile". There are models available in the gift shop, but you will have to carry them home with you.Fine if you drove there, but not if you came by boat or plane, so I purchased this one from Bolo, it arrived earlier than advertised so kudos to both the seller and postal service. The kit is an anniversary edition, (2012) so it comes with a few extras. Upon inspection it was all complete well detailed and in good order, the paints and glue are still viable.Be aware that you will need a big shelf to display it on as it's nearly 2ft long.
Titanischer Bastelspaß
Diesen Bausatz habe ich ca. vor 2 Jahren bestellt und bin leider noch nicht dazu bekommen eine Rezension zu schreiben. Schade auch da dieses Modell des Herstellers Revell wirklich gelungen ist.Wie man es von Revell gewohnt ist, kommt das Schiff in einem Spritzling an und wartet förmlich zusammengebaut zu werden. Da es sich bei diesem Bausatz um die Geschwindigkeitsstufe 5 handelt, sind auch dementsprechend viele winzige Teile dabei. Der Zusammenbau ist für einen geübten Modellbauer aber keine Problem, lediglich die filigranen Arbeiten an den Seilen zum Schluss stellen noch eine Besondere Herausforderung da, da man hier mit Pinzette und dem mitgelieferten Garn ein paar winzige knoten machen muss.In diesem Gerschenkset liegen noch einige kleine Tiegel mit Farbe mit einem kleinen Pinsel sowie ein kleines Fläschchen Revell Conracto Kunstoffkleber bei. Für Anfänger sind zumindest die Farben nicht zu gebrauchen da erstens die Farbe die dabei ist viel zu wenig ist, zweitens sollte man sich bewusst sein das der Rumpf erst richtig toll aussieht wenn man ihn mit Sprühfarbe gleichmäßig behandelt und drittens, die Konsistenz der Farbe im Geschenkset und die Konsistenz der Farbe die man von Revell im Handel bekommt stimmen nicht ganz überein so das Mischen recht schwierig wird ohne gleich Farbverdünnung zu benutzen. Die mitgelieferten Farben sind nur die Basisfarben und man sollte sich drauf einstellen noch mehr optionale Farben kaufen zu müssen um alles Anleitungsgemäß zu lackieren. Außerdem ist es bei bestimmten Baugruppen wie z.B den Schornsteinen nötig, gewisse Farben zu Mischen um den Farbton zu erreichen der in der Anleitung beschrieben ist.Originell sind die Historischen Dokumente die als Nachdruck dem Set beiliegen und einladen etwas in der Geschichte des Luxusliners nachzuschlagen. Trotz allem empfehle ich hier dennoch Wikipedia oder den Literaturhändler eures Vertrauens, wenn ihr euch wirklich informieren möchtet, denn diese Nachdrucke sind doch nur eher als Gimmicks anzusehen.Zum zusammengebauten Modell selber: Es ist recht Groß und recht Detailverliebt. Es macht richtig Spaß es zusammenzubauen und fordert gleichzeitig vom Bastler einiges an Genauigkeit und Geschick. Was man daraus macht obliegt einem selber, und das ist auch gut so.Das Geld ist es allemal wert und ein echter Blickfang!
