The Scientific Industries SI-0236 Vortex-Genie 2 is a vortex mixer (shaker) with variable speed of 600 to 3,200rpm for gentle shaking to rapid vortexing of samples, and can be operated by touch or in continuous mode. This mixer comes with a removable cup head for a single tube up to 40mm in diameter and 200mm in length, and a 3" platform for a beaker, a flask, or multiple tubes. Additional interchangeable mixing heads for holding vessels such as microtubes and microplates are available (sold separately). The mixer's metal housing and shock-absorbing feet provide a stable platform to help prevent walking. It can be used in cold rooms and incubators, is Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) listed, and has European Conformity (CE) marking. Vortex shakers are commonly used in laboratories to mix liquids.

Works very well and was much less expensive than from one of the "big" scientific supply houses. I purchased this along with a hot plate and some other lab equipment for a new location my company opened this year. We saved a good deal of money on the items that we were able to purchase through Bolo.

The 3' adapter won't snap into place. I bought two, that is the case for both. They are lacking the ledge to attached to the vortexer. In response to this concern, the company felt the need to explain in paragraph length how to "snap" the plate into place, because clearly I'm an idiot who can't figure that out. Very poor customer service. I purchased these specifically for the plate adapters and can't even use them. Do yourself a favor and purchase from another company and manufacturer.
