5.0 out of 5 stars You just saved yourself $129 dollars from the coffee shop, Tex.
This French press is simple, compact, and makes an excellent cup of coffee. The 12oz size is perfect for one or two servings, and the design is straightforward—just coffee, hot water, and a few minutes of steeping for a rich, flavorful brew. The glass carafe feels sturdy, and the plunger filters well without letting grounds slip through. Cleanup is quick, which makes it easy to use every day without feeling like a hassle.Affordable, reliable, and easy to use—an ideal French press for daily coffee at home or even to take along for travel.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well. No issues.
Works well. Glass is attached to the handle which is nice and safe for cleaning.
5.0 out of 5 stars BODUM customer service went above and beyond.
SECOND UPDATE:Now I've changed my rating to five stars--and I'd give more if I could. BODUM customer service went above and beyond. They actually did not send me the replacement part I requested. Instead, they sent me four brand new BODUM French presses! I've reached out to see if that was a mistake and they want me to return three.I've always loved BODUM French presses. My broken part was really quite an anomaly.First update: I've changed my rating to four stars, because I was able to get through to BODUM customer support and they say they will be sending me a replacement part soon.I've bought these before and like them a lot, so I thought I was getting a good product this time too.Oddly, the "press" part of this one--not the glass-- broke. Actually split in the middle. Makes it hard to get it into the pot.Never had that happen before.Unfortunately, the Bolo return window on this item closed a week ago.But fortunately, reaching out to BODUM directly worked. I should get the new part in a week or so.
4.0 out of 5 stars Used Properly, It’s Fine
I was using the pour-over filter method to make a single cup of coffee (using the Kalita Wave filters) and it made a fine, rich cup. But I got tired of standing over the cup for long minutes while I poured the water into the filter bit by bit, so I thought I’d try this. Well, it took some adjustment, but I finally found a way to make an acceptable, and sometimes excellent, cup. The key is to let the coffee steep for AT LEAST 10 MINUTES. It will still be hot. You also have to grind the coffee appropriately—I use #30 on the Baratza burr grinder. It isn’t as reliable as the pour-over method, but the tradeoff of ease for reliable quality is worth it.
5.0 out of 5 stars love it
is very easy to use, and tge coffee quality and taste changes for the best. is beautiful and a good deal
5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite French press
I’ve loved this little French press! It’s easy to use and wash, not difficult to assemble, and has been very durable. I’ve been using it for months and it makes delicious easy coffee. I love the small and sleek design—it’s very easy to store. Highly recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars Buena, bonita y barata
1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design
I bought this to have as an on-hand replacement for my older Bodum glass beaker press, to have in case of breakage. I have begun to use it after noticing a star-shaped crack on the bottom edge of the old beaker. There are a number of things I found I don't like about this new design:1. The thin flat hard plastic handle is not ergonomic and makes the press difficult to control. The old one has a wide curved rubberized handle that is perfectly shaped, fits the hand beautifully, and makes it easy to control a press full of coffee.2. The top of the new plastic handle 'clips' over the top edge of the glass, and that protrusion makes it difficult to insert the plunger disc after filling with coffee water. You can't place it straight down, having to angle it under the protrusion. This ends up a mess because some of the coffee 'cap' ends up on the top side of the plunger, which will leave large grounds in the coffee.3. The plastic protrusion also make cleaning the beaker more difficult, since it is right in the way of your hand and/or washcloth.4. The high black base makes it difficult to see if you've scooped all the remaining grounds from the beaker before washing.5. The all-plastic lid doesn't fit as snug as the lid on my older Bodum, which has a stainless top layer and fits the beaker diameter better. When I set the press upside down in my sink to drain out the grounds, the lid falls out and grounds go all over the place.6. The ball-shaped hard plastic plunger end is not very ergonomic, compared to my older Bodum which has an elliptical shaped rubberized end (again, perfectly shaped). It is difficult to press the plunger straight down with the new shape, so I switched this component out for the old one.I'll likely end up removing the beaker from the new press and reassembling using my old components, and will probably cut the handle off the new one and use the base to help protect & stabilized the beaker.Overall, a waste of money. I would NOT recommend this design!
