5.0 out of 5 stars Good transfer

(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I just watched this DVD and was impressed by the image quality as well as the movie itself. Maybe slightly highcontrast but overall very crisp. Thanks to Bolo for making it available on DVD-R.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality dvd

A. · April 29, 2025

The one star is for the quality of the dvd. It does not reflect my view about the movie.I could not see the end of the movie, poor quality. The image just froze, I tried several times with no success

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost a west coast version of Naked City

C.B. · July 31, 2017

This is quite a movie. Genuinely creepy and with period views of Los Angeles, especially Bunker Hill, that are second to none. The quality of the DVD-R is excellent. The script is a bit off, and like many movies, things turn wildly implausible towards the end. But I was awestruck by the beautiful cinematography of Ernest Lazlo. This is one of those films you can watch with the sound off and it's still impressive. Fans of film noir will find most of the usual suspects: Howard DaSilva, the great Luther Adler and in small parts, Raymond Burr and William Schallert. And of course, the Bradbury building. Unless there is some legal entanglement, I'm sure we'll see this resurrected as a crime/noir classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth viewing.

H. · February 5, 2018

It's unfortunate that this film gets compared to the original Fritz Lang masterpiece as it is an excellent film in its own right.David Wayne turns in a great performance as the child killer. The location shots in Los Angeles are excellent, especially in the oft used Bradbury Building.Well worth viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie!

B.i.P. · September 26, 2018

One night on television this movie was one, but it was the original one and in a foreign language, so I decided to order this one and it's really a very good movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, bad DVD burn -- last 20 minutes were distorted and blocky.

D.F.o.R. · July 24, 2022

This looks like it was a DVD-R. It played fine until the last 20 minutes, when the picture got all blocky and distorted, and would hang up and stall. This was on the first -- and only play -- so the disc was brand new. Looks like there must have been a problem or glitch in the burn. Either way, I'm returning it. Too bad. Ruined my movie watching experience.

2.0 out of 5 stars Corny

J. · July 1, 2022

The story is idiotic, and the acting is melodramatic. The only positive about this film is the location shooting in Bunker Hill, an old section of Los Angeles that was torn down decades ago to make way for modern high rise office buildings. Kiss Me Deadly and Criss Cross were much better films that were also shot in the Bunker Hill area.

3.0 out of 5 stars Baby Killer is hunted by both the police and the MOB.....~ great cinematography.~ 3 STARS~ Luther Adler is first rate~

M. · January 2, 2016

PLOT: remake of M ~ better than expected~ M for murder Baby Killer is hunted by everyone including the mob.M (for murder) is seen stalking children at playgrounds and parks and is able to bribe them with Candy and a Balloon to go with him. The balloon vender is blind and HEARS M....whistling a weird tune. When a dead girl turns up her "shoes" are always missing. The police headed by Howard DaSilva have few clues but start to raid local DIVES....the mob has their drug sales affected. When the MOB boss decides he wants to find the "Baby Killer"....so he can turn him over to the cops as leverage for a grand jury investigation. Every street hood to junkies are hired by the MOB to find M.....using mob owned taxi cab service they "communicate" using the Radio service in the cabs. They begin by watching everyone who is following or hanging around children. The police finally get a list of the local Psychos recently released~ and begin by securitizing them. *M* has his apartment searched by a detective and they go BACK after a shoe string "knot" used by the killer becomes a clue. M uses his trophy shoe strings for his light cord...they find the missing SHOES in the floorboards of his closet. M is seen stalking a little blond girl who he bribes with ice cream and a balloon. The Tune is whistled and the Blind Balloon seller tips off two street hoods who follow M......the HOODS manage to mark his COAT with the letter M.....He and the girl HIDE in a huge building at "closing time." The building is STORES. and M and the girl are locked into a creepy Mannequin Store....on the 6th floor. the MOB shows up with dozens of men and begin the search for M~ including equipment to break into stores.... and hear M trying to DIG his way through a medal door.~ hunting him down they drag him to a GARAGE where a MOB KANGAROO COURT beings. The Mob boss orders drunken mob lawyer Luther Sadler to defend M....who begins to BABBLE on about childhood including severe abuse by his mother which lead to his hatred of females. the police receive a tip off and end up at the garage where a stray bullet kills Lawyer Adler and M is drug off screaming and muttering.NO where as good as the original with Peter Lorre but still a visual delight. The dark noir quality is felt and seen. David Wayne as M is very good and Luther Adler as the drunken mob mouth piece is outstanding. Look for Jim Backus in a very bit part as the Mayor. Better than expected. I would give it 3 stars~ worth watching.
