Tame Impala - New Blood Rising!

A.T. · December 18, 2012

First of all let me say that I'm an experienced old school audiophile and meloman. My faviourite bands are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, etc...I trully believe in the saying that all the best stuff was done and written\recorded in the 60s\70s...BUT...At the same time I also believe that everything in this universe is cyclical! And in my humble opinion, there is no doubt nor denying that the music is "Getting Back to where it once belonged!"In the last 10 years world has seen light of the old school revival and the rise of such young talents as The Black Keys, Tame Impala, Astra, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Rival Sons, Joe Bonamassa, Alabama Shakes, Melody's Echo Chamber, etc...I'm really loving what's happening with the modern rock scene nowadays and I am really excited about it's future! I can't even remember the time when I was last this excited about new bands and new records like those of Tame Impala and The Black Keys! I think that these two bands are the future classics and eventually make their way into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as the Legends of our time!As for Tame Impala and their debut album, Innerspeaker! It is absolutely AMAZING and MIND BLOWING!Their sound is soooooooo vintage and hippie you'll feel like you're in Liverpool back in 1967!The vocalist and band-leader - Kevin Parker not just sounds LIKE John Lennon, he is literally channeling HIM through his melodic phrases, lyrics and rhythmic groove!Overall the sound of the band can be described as Syd Barret, T.REX and Sgt. Pepper Era Beatles taking in a little bit too much of LSD and "trip" out like there's no tomorrow! The vinyl that I bought was of exceptionally good quality! A tidy good ole gatefold, not too thick but the polygraphy is of good quality. The vinyl is very aestethically pleasing and very well pressed! The sound is warm and analog reminiscent of the first pressing of Abbey Road record that I also own.I don't usually buy vinyls in an off hand way. I make sure I only collect the BEST or Something that is trully a masterpiece. Tame Impala definitely deserves a LOT of more credit than it currently has. But I have faith that things will soon change, since bands like The Black Keys finally reached mainstream and commercial succes and served as an inspiration example for a new generation of bands to stay true to what they love and believe in.I would recommend this band to everybody who can trully appreciate the magic of REAL music and not the lady gaga and justi beaver s*** that has consumed the world!Tame Impala and The Black Keys! Remember those two bands for in 5-10 years, they will become the biggest bands on the planet!

Freaking adore this band. All I really liked was 60's psychedelic rock when I was 17, and then summer came around that year and somehow I managed finding this album and just fell in love with the band immediately. I love every album they have released, all 10/10 to my ears. But let's get onto this one. Innerspeaker is such an innocent sounding fun record. Every song is memorable and has parts that you just love. I won't go into too much detail. But this has some of my favorite Tame songs like IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE (Great opener for a debut album, let's you know that Kevin Parker is no joke) DESIRE BE, DESIRE GO (Solo in the middle of the song is beastly at high volume and makes you tingle a little bit) ALTER EGO (Absolutely love this song. Who couldn't?) WHY WON'T YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND (Calming, beautiful, lush. Love it) JEREMY'S STORM (Chill instrumental that you can just zone out to) EXPECTATIONS (The opening guitar and then the drum beat, you know it's going to be a killer track. And that chorus too, oh yeah. Expectatioooonnnn is taking its toll) RUNWAY, HOUSES, CITY, CLOUDS (Probably my favorite song on the album, absolutely beautiful and the outro when you first here it will just make you so happy, like an extra long super tasty and buttery lick played over and over haha. Fantastic song that even took me two or three tries to like as much) Anyways..... This album is fantastic and really a good listen. And, not that it needs to be listened to in this fashion to enjoy, but if you do happen to indulge in the greenery before listening to this, it makes it a whole lot better ;) Buy it and enjoy. Then buy Lonerism and Currents.

Superman is wright

I want to congratulate Superman on his review, and Tame Impala, of course, on their music. I heard a few songs from these masters previously, not too carefully, and put them on a potential purchase list. After reading Superman's review, I thought to give it a go. I am bit of a purist when buying records, that means that they have to be 100% according to me. Well, thanks to you I got this CD, Superman. Listen people...If these guys were from the USA or GB, you would have all the world press trumpeting about the new indie wonder, like The Smiths, or The Stone Roses, or Radiohead or what have you. This is ONE GREAT RECORD which can be nothing but enjoyed. Some mention the vocals being similar to Lennon's, thus them not being original. Today there are almost 7 bilion people on planet earth, so there is a very big chance of getting a similar voice here and there. The guy is not imitating. Appart from that "misfortune", Tame Impala are as original as they come. Geniuses. No melody resembles The Beatles or anything else. And what melodies!!I only hope these guys will keep on recording. This is a great find. A absolute marvel. One of those that, after a long search you finaly come across and cherish like a gem.

Forever an All-Time Favorite

Kevin Parker can do no wrong. This sound you hear are one man jamming with himself in such a natural organic way that it sounds like a band. He played every instrument on this album and produced it himself with a little golden touch on the mixing side by Flaming Lip's producer Dave Fridmann. From the touching lyrics to the perfect combo of melodic hypo-groove psychedelia, it sounds vaguely familiar while also feeling entirely new. My two favorite tracks are Alter Ego and Runaway, Houses, City, Clouds. Deeply moving and exciting album for me. I drove from Oklahoma to NYC with a good friend and was introduced to this album in an extremely yellow bathroom after taking mushrooms and it changed my life. Some say that I am still in that yellow, yellow infinite bathroom.
