Just a quick note to say that this little electric tea kettle is SUPER! This kettle replaced a $30 Aroma electric kettle I'd purchased from Target, which I'd taken on numerous road trips, thinking "It's cheap, effective, gets the job done!" Truly, that Aroma kettle was dandy, but just a little too big, plus the spout was chunky and not suited for my purposes.The main driver behind my purchase of the Hario kettle was that I make pour-over coffee nearly every day - at home and on the road. What I wanted was a kettle just big enough to boil about 16 oz of water max, but more important, one with a very SKINNY spout, so I could moisten the grinds during the pour-over process. The Hario kettle spout is ideal for this task. Water comes to a boil very quickly, and the shape of the spout enables me to extract the coffee essence by sloooowly moistening the grinds in my pour-over beaker. The result is consistently an exceptional cup of coffee.I should also mention that the "cordless" part (being able to remove the kettle from the plugged-in heating element) makes it very convenient to use. I will definitely be taking this kettle with me on road trips, as it is smaller than the Aroma kettle I had, and will hopefully stand up to being packed in my "portable kitchen" bag with other stuff. On road trips, I will use the Hario to not only make pour-over coffee, but also the occasional cup of tea.

Absolutely LOVE this kettle! Have used it everyday for over a year. Perfect for making pour-over coffee. Super fast - approximately 2 minutes for a 12oz. mug. I looked for an all stainless kettle for a long time before I decided on this one. Never could find one with zero plastic inside - but after reading the "unicorn kettle" review - I knew this one would work for me. I "lost" the little piece of plastic inside (that tops the metal tube) the first day I received it - that never affected the performance at all. I didn't want any plastic inside - getting heated - then water condensing off of it - nitpicker. I am not sure why it comes with that piece except to possibly keep water from going down the tube inside - I did accidentally get some water down the tube while filling one time - then I noticed it leaked down to the plastic tray that the kettle sits on. Originally when I saw the Hario kettles - I did not enjoy the beehive shape - or the long skinny spout - I like the looks of a small Farberware "superfast" coffee pot - but the Hario style grew on me - now I adore the way it looks. Before purchasing this kettle - I used the Farberware superfast - just took all the guts out - and used it to make hot water -no plastic but bad spout for pour-over and water did not seem hot enough for coffee - also no auto shut-off. I really need auto shut-off as I would sometimes run that Farberware dry - not good. This Hario unit does come with a heavy-duty cord - which is somewhat difficult to hide - I have this thing about electrical cords - I don't want to see them! - although I do like that it is heavy-duty for safety - so the cord is a catch-22. Why not get the stove-top version if I don't like cords? - well there again - I have gone upstairs for a "minute" while my Cuisinart kettle was on the stove - came back downstairs after talking on the phone for an hour to find my kettle in meltdown. I'm not to be trusted with stove-top kettles. I am somewhat minimalist - the only full-time small appliances on my kitchen counter are 1- vintage coffee grinder 2- Dualit toaster 3- Hario Buono Kettle. Bottom line - if the kettle died tomorrow - I would buy another one as soon as possible.

Perfect kettle ! Coming from Bodum, this thing gives me so much control, I love it. Perfect for my morning pour over routine, water comes to a boil really quickly maybe 2 mins top, I am only cupping though. But by the time I RDT, grind my beans and add the filter its done so it really makes the morning coffee routine flow. I'm not sure how the stove top one, but if u can afford it induction will always boil faster then flame.

Really nice kettle, pours well, attractive design. Problem is that it doesn't shut off once it comes to a boil: the kettle is outright dangerous to use. The quality control in its manufacture is inadequate. The flip switch in the base does not release to shut the unit off as it is supposed to do. We started having this problem occasionally a couple of months after we bought it, and we stopped using it after six months out of fear we'd forget it doing something else and it'd burn the house down.

This was a great little kettle. Lightweight and easy to use for my weak wrists. However, it lasted just 2 1/2 years before the handle completely broke off – I am no welder, so that's it. For 80+ dollars, it would have been nice to last longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Unicorn' Electric Kettle - No Plastic, Good Design!
I have looked at over 100 electric kettles over the last year. ALL of them have plastic which comes into contact with the hot water, or are designed poorly (prone to burning you, etc).This kettle has a single plastic semi-cover for the spout exhaust, but it is EASILY REMOVED and completely unnecessary. If you choose to leave it on, it does not come in contact with the heated water. That makes this Kettle the otherwise legendary Unicorn kettle and I am very happy with it.The kettle automatically turns off when the water is boiling. The cord coils neatly around a spool underneath the dock, so it takes up very little room and looks nice on the counter. Overall, the kettle is not very large. It's a nice thing, but it's definitely overpriced so only buy it if you wont regret spending the dollars.The handle is far enough away from the hot metal that even a faint sense of grace is enough to avoid burns. The pour is predictable, steady, and precise to the last drop. The kettle heats a single mug's worth of water in 2 minutes flat (I timed it).A++ would recommend this product to a friend.

コンロ類等の使えない出先でのドリップバッグコーヒー用として購入。和平フレイズの1.2Lのもよさげだったが、使用時の最低水量が0.5Lだったので、こちらを採用決定。ドリップ時の使いやすさは、加熱機構のない通常タイプ同様極めて良好で、ハリオがコーヒードリップをよく理解していることがわかるデザインだ。●長所：・一杯分（150mL）からでも沸かせる。 ちなみに一杯分は約100秒で沸く。なお、初回に水道水800mLをわかしたときは 約5分30秒で、説明書よりも早め。 （いずれも投稿時（12月）の常温の水使用。季節・水温で変動するはず。）・意外と蒸発ロスが少ない。 500mLのペットボトルで3回淹れて、しっかり少し水が残った。 水量が少ない時は、結構ロスがあると思ったのでうれしい誤算。・出水口が内部の底面ギリギリにある。 少ない湯量でも有効に使える。ドリップ時の湯線コントロールもし易い。・注ぎ口が細く、太さが一定 これもドリップ時の湯線のコントロールに効く。・ずんぐりしたデザインは好みがあると思うが、少なくとも転倒しにくく、 安全性の面からも○。●短所：・底面の通電用差込口に一発ではめにくい。 （慣れの問題かも）・内部に棒状の温度センサーが生えているので、洗浄はその分やりにくい。 （機能上止むをえないが）・デザイン上ハンドル〜口先までの幅が大きく、土台部分の径も大きめなので、 ややかさばる感あり。●その他・加熱の間や直後の外側はやはり熱くなるので、触れないように注意・使用後の内部に付着した水分が早く乾燥してくれたら、なおいいかも。

本体と取っ手の溶接が不十分で本体とはずれ、購入3ケ月で廃棄処分した。

いままでT-falの電気ポットでがんばってドリップコーヒーをいれていました。ただやはりお湯の注ぎ方に無理があり、ドリップ向けの電気ポットがないかとネットで検索したら、やはりちゃんとあるんですね。検索するとRussell Hobbs社製の電気ケトルの記事も多く、評価もよいので同社で決めていましたが、もう少し探してみようとしていて、このHARIOの電気ケトルに出会いました。ここの書き込みの数もRH社に比べると少ないですが上々でしたので、コスト面からもこちらを選択しました。書き込みがある皆さんのようにこだわってレビューしたわけではありませんが、とにかく普通の電気ポットからの買い替えであれば格段にお湯の調整がしやすくなりました。今までがなんだったんだろうと、なぜ早く出会わなかったんだろうと。。。一人分ならコーヒーの準備をしている間に沸きますから、速さは気になりませんでした。デザインも評価にあるように好みはあるとは思いますが、やはりステンレスボディーの存在感はいいですね。一点気になっているのが、まだ買ったばかりでの書き込みなのですが、少しコーヒーに臭いがついているようなのですが、新品で何かにおい移りしているのでしょうか。他の方の書き込みにあったクエン酸や重曹で洗浄したいと思っています。個人的には大満足です。新品は臭いがついているものでしょうから仕方ないと思うので、星は５つです。
Undoubtedly an excellent pouring kettle
I wanted to order the version that has full temperature control but mistakenly ordered this one, which can only boil water. Well, I like my water hot so not a big issue.The kettle is beautiful and has easy control over a wide range of flow rates, absolutely love it. Hope it lasts long.
