5.0 out of 5 stars Great little tankless Water Heater! Lasts a long time!
We stayed in a small vacation home in Mississippi, that our friend owned. It had one of these tankless units installed in it and our friend said it worked great. So when we built our guest house we installed the same unit in it. It has worked perfectly for 12 years then we started noticing the screen filter on the kitchen faucet kept getting clogged with debris. About 6 months after this we noticed a slow water leak at the bottom of the water heater. It appears that one of the two cylinders in the unit had corroded and was causing the clog in the kitchen sink, then the leak. We ordered a replacement, the same model, and received it in just a couple of days. We could hear something loose, like a screw, rolling around inside the cover of the new unit so we sent it back and got a replacement. The replacement also had a small something loose inside of it, but we installed it anyway. It appears to be working fine, not sure what might be rattling around inside but it apparently isn't a problem. It was easy to remove and replace, didn't even need a plumber. The unit works great, heats water fast, isn't expensive and doesn't seem to cause high electric bills. You do have to have the faucet turned to nearly all hot in the cold months, but that is true in our home to that has a traditional tank water heater.
5.0 out of 5 stars Some misinformation and vague instructions
My old 45 gallon water heater sprung a leak, I decided to go tankless, because of the reviews I decided on this one, the hardest part wasn't the installation of the heater it was replacing all the old plumbing and whoever said it took 30 amp double pole is wrong it takes a 60 amp double pole and the copper wire has to be switched to 6 gauge to get it to run safely, because I'm using well water there is a constant fluctuation in temperature, when I took a shower I had to keep adjust the cold water up and down but it felt good to finally take a shower, then my wife discovered turning the temperature down to medium (3 lights) it works better with hardly any cold water added so I'll start doing that but we'll have remember to turn the temperature up (5 lights) when we run the dishwasher to sanitize and the washing machine for white clothes, sometimes you have to compromise. I would recommend the Titan but beware it is a lot of work putting it in if you're replacing old plumbing and adding a sediment filter and changing the wire size. The best thing I like about an on demand is it's like the difference between a four-wheeler and a horse, when you get done with the four-wheeler you put it away and it doesn't waste any more energy until next time you ride, with a horse you put it away and you keep feeding it until the next ride, figuratively that's the difference between the two types of water heaters and the contrast in size, the on demand is much easier to get in and out of the house.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice thankless water heaters
I've used these water heaters for around 15 years now. They are good quality and the water temperature stays hot continuously as long as you turn on the hot water then turn it low for about 10 seconds and then you turn it as hot as you want and you'll have constant hot water. They draw a lot of amps so i would not use them in a 100 amp home. They have screen filters on the inlets need to be cleaned every once in a while, depending on your water. These are very nice for the price..
5.0 out of 5 stars On My Second Unit in Five Years
Money Saver Instant Hot Water ... Only runs when the hot water spigot is turned on ... Depending how far your water lines are from the Heater, it's fast ... Kicks in soon as water flows .... (In winter, takes water a bit longer than INSTANT to reach the far shower, on the opposite end of the house, but still works fine, once it becomes Hot, stays Hot until I turn shower off)This is my second unit ... They last about 5 years, then slowly stop heating, usually due to sludge in your tap water lines .... I have City water, and there's a black tarry sludge that forms because of added chemicals that coagulate .... Won't hurt you to drink it, but accumulated, it builds up in appliances, the Water Heater being one of those, can't be helped in my case .... A WHOLE HOUSE Filter would eliminate more of itDimensions: 9.5 inches wide x 12 inches tall x 4 inches deep, protrudes from wall ... Need 220 volt outlet (USUALLY old tank water heaters had it already installed, so plug outlet in same place)For the money I save with having Hot Water in a huge tank-type-canister, I can buy a few of the Instant Hot Water Titans, and still come out ahead .... Better for the environment, saves powerIf you repurchase the same exact model again, simply have to turn off water supply to the house .... Unscrew the water intake/output, and put the new unit on, rescrew, turn water back on .... Takes about 20 minutes total .... Super Easy to do it yourself, no Handyman expense necessary for a replacement unit .... Recommended Titan unit, very efficient.
4.0 out of 5 stars New wire and breaker
It is small but so it seems to work as it should. We took out a 40 gallon electric and replaced it with this. We recovered a lot of space in the utility closet. We had to run 2 new #6 wire's from the electrical panel and swap out a 2 pole 30 amp breaker for a 2 pole 60 amp breaker. Not sure why they want you to install 3 feet of copper piper on the cold and hot water side and connect any other pipe to the copper. It took 2 of us about 3 hours to get it installed and running.
