4.0 out of 5 stars TRIED TO BE INTERESTING

THIS WAS MADE IN EUROPE AND THE QUALITY OF THE DISC WASN'T ALWAYS SO GOOD. THE TIME SPENT ON TRYING TO COUNT DOWN THESE STORIES FROM 60 TO 1 SOMETIMES MADE THESE STORIES SEEM HURRIED AND INCOMPLETE, WITH VERY LITTLE DESCRIPTION ABOUT WHAT THE MYSTERY WAS. OTHER TIMES THERE WAS MORE TO THE STORY THROUGH INTERVIEWS, PUBLISHED ACCOUNTS AND ETC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whodunit! Many excellent urban myths explored.

Lots of great video and old film clips.Great myths discussed of new and old tales. The main problem with this documentary are the so-called 'experts' interviewed. Most are popular culture historians, and not police detectives. They have no more crediblity, than the average John Q. Public. Most of what they have read is already a shadowy myth based on a tall-tale.Rarely does the truth manifest itself this way.The dvd has lots of great eye-candy footage. With sixty mysterious crimes and events discussed, some topics are only quickly researched. Some of the featured stories are better than the others. One good one was the 'Jimmy Hoffa' story. It reveals Nixon's role in getting rid of Hoffa, because Hoffa knew about the Nixon-Mafia role concerning the assassination of JFK.In another episode, the eighteen minute gap on the 'Watergate' tapes, may have discussed the Cuban 'plumbers' and their role in the JFK assassination plot. Some weak stories ,the D.B. Cooper spot, does not even mention Kenny Christiansen.the Zodiac story doesn't mention anything of value to the case. The mob, political, lost treasure, missing persons, lost cultures,UFOs and civil war stories are all interesting. The most valuable story shows that obscure rocketeer ,Robert Goddard, was indeed patronized by the famed aviator ,Charles Lindbergh. And just as easy as a rocket can be built to ferry men to the Moon,it can also carry a nuclear warhead towards another nation. The Lindbergh kidnapping was discussed briefly, nowhere mentioned was 'J.J. Nosowitski'.The Italian workmen,Sacco and Vanzetti, may have also been framed by J.J.Nosowitski,however he again wasn't even discussed. But,many great legends are discussed here. The Thelma Todd,Marilyn Monroe,Black Dahlia and Fatty Arbuckle stories are Hollywood gossip classics.I hope they do a 'part two'.There are so many stories nowhere mentioned. No Loch Ness monster here?No Boston Strangler discussed? No Stonehenge mentioned? No Anastasia discussed?Just to name a few missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'vr watched this 100 times. I love it!!

This is probably the best documentary like this I've ever seen. The people discussing the segments are entertaining and knowledgeable. I have probably watched these DVDs 100 times. Each episode is a handful of unsolved situations that you get to explore. All the assassinations from the 60s are covered, along with Hoffa, Hoover and Nixon. It also covers all sorts of areas, from Fatty Arbuckle and Marilyn Monroe to Area 51 and Big Foot.I keep wishing I would see them do 60 "more" at some point. These episodes might also spark your interest in something to explore beyond a 5-10 minute segment. I have looked deeper into the Nixon tapes, as well as other things I found interesting.I highly recommend these DVDs for your collection if you enjoy looking at mysterious things that have happened in history shown in an entertaining way.

A bit Disappointing
