I love that you don't have to lift a heavy cover.

Makes life much easier for the heavy cover. Easy to install with just a few screws.

Put this on a standard 4 person hot tub. Installation was relatively straightforward, but needed pry bars to get room to slide bases under. Still requires some strength, but now my wife can get the cover on and off by herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble and use!

    P.S. · September 6, 2024

This is my second purchase. The last one I bought eight years ago. Works like a champ! When my spa cover began to take on water weight (don't they all eventually?), this cover lifter still held up, no problem. No drilling necessary into the tub cabinet or into your floor or deck. The anchor plates are very large and slide under the hot tub after you empty out the tub water (you DO change your water from time to time!). Pay close attention to the assembly directions. Make sure the screw heads on the crossbar face the rear of the tub. When you open the tub, they face downward and don't scratch up your cover! I used an impact drill with a Phillips head bit for the fifteen self tapping screws. Makes it very easy. Don't try to use a screwdriver, you will be there all day. If you don't have an impact drill, use a regular drill to hold your Phillips head bit, it will work fine too. Kit comes with two stamped metal wrenches. They are okay, if you have nothing better, but using a socket set and an adjustable wrench speeds things along nicely. The 18" of clearance advertised is pretty close from my experience. Measure your available space at the rear of the hot tub before you buy. Happy soaking!

Like the fact that not screwed into cabinet sides since they’re made of thin plastic. Had cover lift on old tub that was wood sides and worked flawlessly foe over 15 years and may still be working. Great simple solution to the problem of the large cover.

SIMPLE TO INSTALL GOOD DIRECTION AND THE PRODUCT IS EXCELENT

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect - and a couple of tips.

    R. · June 10, 2016

The simplicity of this system is its most attractive asset. The powder-coated tubing is adequate for lifting most covers. I had a similar cover for about 8 years that had a spring around the pivot point designed to help with lifting the cover back over the spa. The stress on the pivot led to failure, and this design is an improvement. The L bend that is the pivot is reinforced with a second pipe in the tubing that should contribute to longevity. I can notice no real difference in ease of use compared to the spring-loaded model. Here's the TIP: (based on having installed 3 similar cover lifts) When you have assembled the L arms and have them mounted on the plate with the holes that accept the bolt which acts as the pivot, you need to spend a bit of time kicking/nudging the angle of the two plates and their distance under the spa. A few degrees of difference in the angles will make a big difference in how the arms that go across your cover lay down on the surface. Take the time necessary to get this right, THEN put the cross piece in that connects the two arms. It should lay perfectly flat. Open the spa cover just as you will be using it a couple of times and be sure everything returns to the proper position. NOTE that the cross arm should not lie directly on top of the hinge. It works better when it is slightly toward the mounting plates, allowing the cover to fold over the arm without creating any stress on the hinge portion of the cover. See picture. Finally, and this is for the "Rock-It" engineers. My 2 person spa is an oval, and the radius of the "corner" makes the distance from the pivot to the end of the plate that goes under the spa too great to optimally sit down on the plate. Various spas will have different radii at their corners. A design that has the plate going at a 45 degree angle to the vertical portion of the plate (with the hole that acts as the pivot point) would make this fit better for all spas, regardless of their size and the radius of their corner. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. Patent this and give me 0.1% of all your sales! In my case I had to use some anchor bolts into my deck to assure the fixation of the base plate (see pictures)
