Short Version-it's the best Small Sander on the Market! Long version - I have 2 wood shops. My Hobby Shop, Mostly comprised of standard wood working tools for full size projector and my minature shop.(my wife calls it the land of lilliputions) In my Minature shop I build high end 1/12th scale framed (99% built like a real home) Dollhouses. There priced between $25k to $125k, and I only make 1 a year. With this in mind I'm sure you can image that the people buying these houses exspect perfection. And when I've ordered a 6inch square block of grade A+++ snake wood for $300, I only have one shot and getting what I'm building right. If I'm building a floor the slightest 1/64th of a difference over the 12 inch length stands out. Our worse, the wood doesn't but up flush to another piece. I just built a full wall bookshelf out of Caboon Ebony the way it was constructed was from the subfloor, so it had to butt up against this strikingly white floor constructed out of ash. The client didn't want trim at the bottom of the bookcase (my houses are also designed with great detail. This sander is the only sander I trust. It's variable speed lets you turn it down to almost hand sanding speed, but with the accuracy of the 90 degree table. The table tilts all the way to 15 degrees. To get all the grain perfect I have one shot. If I blow it it's impossible to remove just one room and have it perfect. Also I have an indoor office next to our bedroom. This sande along with my other Proxxon tools are so silent the wife is never bothered. I was unsure about a sander from Proxxon for sometime. Price mainly, I mean $235 for this small sander. I actually ended up paying $175 for a used one on Bolo and after I first used it I would have paid $300. Again it is for small jobs, not building full size furniture, althought I do use it for Vaneers and inlays.

I honestly didn't know what I was missing out in terms of sanders or tools-wise until I used this for making very very precise 1:6 scale furniture. I was working on a mid century lounge chair, which require the legs of the chair to be cut to a 5.5 degree and 13.5 degree (respectively) angle. Without this tool, I genuinely have no idea how I would have done this precisely and painlessly. With this disk saw, I just set the angle, and let it do its work. It's so fricken precise and easy to use that it blew my mind. That alone made it worth it.If you are on the fence regarding this - don't. Just get it. It will change your whole workflow. The precision it offers is unrivaled. And also, it blows my mind how quiet this thing is. It's a whisper. I wish all my power tools were this quiet honestly.

The first thing that sold me on the Proxxon sander was the fact that it is manufactured in Europe. The second thing that confirmed the purchase was the right decision was turning it on the first time- very low noise and no vibration. It is a great model-makers sander. The sander is extremely well made and works great. It is more expensive than similar Chinese models, but I feel the price difference is worth it. I contacted Proxxon and asked them if all their tools were made in Europe, because I was prepared to buy more Proxxon European-made machines. Unfortunately, they said that not all their products are made in Europe. However, I highly recommend the Proxxon disc sander.

I bought this and a Proxon saw at the same time. This is what I use the most. I build wooden model ships. And I use this all the time. The saw - not so much. I've even used this in my normal household tasks - to shorten screws, for instance. It's so handy. Still on my first sanding disk.

I have Byrnes Machines, Hegner, Ultimation and all the high quality machines and Proxxon is right up there and Proxxon products almost always have variable speed control which I like. So if you trying decide which one to get go Proxxon you can't go wrong!

Excelente lijadora, potente y silenciosa
Cuando compré esta lijadora estaba preocupado por su precio y la posibilidad de algún defecto. Al recibirla noté que el soprte de la tabla estaba chueco, pero simplemente estaba apretado de más. Al probarla quedé más que satisfecho: mantiene su fuerza de par sin importar la rapidez del disco de lijado, es silenciosa y no tiene vibraciones. Como se puede ver en la primera fotografía, en la parte superior tiene una pieza de hule que permite colocar piezas de trabajo sin que se deslicen. Al igual que en otras herramientas, la guía de la escuadra tiene un poco de juego. Puse dos capas de cinta kapton (como se puede ver en la segunda fotografía) y ahora la guía entra de manera muy justa, sin juego, esto me ha permitido ajustar la guía y la mesa de lijado con una escuadra de matricero y poder realizar las tareas para las que fue adquirida.PROS:1: Velocidad variable.2: Slenciosa, sin vibraciones y buena potencia.3: Mesa de trabajo ajustable.4: Los discos de lijado se cambian fácilmente.5: Los materiales se ven de buena calidad.CONS:1: El indicador de ángulo de inclinación de la mesa es de poco uso, salvo de guía previa al ajuste con una escuadra adecuada.2: La guía tiene juego al insertarse en la mesa inclinable, pero se soluciona con algún tipo de laina. Deceptive for the $
This is a micro tool for modelers. It will work ok on soft material of very small dimensions.It is hard to justify the price tag for such a small device. Quality is not even satisfactory. Mine had a defect which made it almost impossible to put the attachment bolt back, once you have removed the yellow part to install a sanding disc.For less money there are many compound disc/belt sanders that will do the same job and much more.
