These are very substantial. They are not ball valves and have an arrow on the side indicating proper flow direction, so if you are using lever handles as I am know that they need to be turned counter clockwise when the water is flowing up. I had planned on having some handles turn the opposite direction, but don't want to risk any reduced flow and can't change the direction of the water flow, so I won't have the symmetry I originally planned. I am using these with the Grohe 19 182 000 Atrio Volume Control Valve Trim with Lever Handle, StarLight Chrome.

Finally... a valve that doesn't leak!!! I only gave it a 4 because it comes without a handle. The only handle i found to fit was $146 (4 times the cost of the valve).

These valves are monsters, and superior quality. You don't need 3/4 for normal applications, but if you're putting in a decadent shower with lots of body sprays and such, and need your valves to be low loss so you can flow a lot of water... look at these. They are just outstanding valves.

I needed a replacement cartridge for a 29 274 000 valve and I found that it was actually cheaper to buy the entire unit than to just buy the replacement cartridge. With the cartridge swapped out my shower is now back up and running again and I have a spare valve body.
