5.0 out of 5 stars JAZZY REAL MAN WESTERN
Liked p.i.-investigator-biznessman way out western TCB Scott Brady going where the money is and broads, too. Too tough for today's snowflake sensitive politically correct sissies.
4.0 out of 5 stars A 'Shotgun' Western
I have never seen this show before, so I thought of the incompetence of the person who depicted him on the covers with him using a pistol when he carried nothing but an over-and-under shotgun. The person responsible should have a hard look in a mirror, and the show.Scott Brady did a excellent job as Sam 'Shotgun' Slade. He was just a normal guy trying to make a living as an investigator and not one of those hard as tails, nothing can get past me, type of the Old West. Sometimes he got knocked down, got his ego bruised and laid out in the dirt, just what happens to the run of the mill private investigator, even today. There are 12 episodes on three dvds (series 1-3), but I would preferred to have them in one case. The titles are: (1) A Flower on Boot Hill, Backtrack, Killer's Band, The Spanish Box. (2) Donna Juanita, Lost Gold, The Deadly Key, The Golden Tunnel (3) Ring of Death, Sudden Death, The Charcoal Bullet, The Fabulous Fiddle. It is said that the title song was the first contemporary jazz song, by Gerald Fried, for a television western, and he wrote many scores for television themes. There are all the ingredients of the 1960s westerns in the show and I found it enjoyable, even though it only lasted a short time, I came away wishing that it lasted longer than it did. There are some well known faces, and a few surprises (for me anyway) in the series.I recommend this series to western fans who are after something different that is in the style of 'The Rifleman', and I give the series four stars as someone may get the wrong impression from the covers. I am sorry, but it is like saying 'The Rifleman' carried a six-gun instead, inconceivable.
3.0 out of 5 stars No Blend
Shotgun Slade was watchable and somewhat entertaining. However the jazzed up musical score does not fit this series.
4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD SHOW
NEVER HEARD OF THIS SHOW GROWING UP....THE BACKGROUND JAZZ MUSIC IS NOT PERIOD AND IS ANNOYING. THE 1950'S WESTERN GENRE OVERCOMES THIS. DECENT SHOW TO PASS TIME. WORTH THE PRICE IF YOU CAN GET ON THE CHEAP.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Quality is Terrible
The quality is terrible. The picture is so fuzzy you can't watch it with out hurting your eyes. I wouldn't even take this for free. It's like they just took the old degraded footage and put it on DVD. Not worth a Nickel.
