I was having severe lower back pain associated with menopause. My friend told me her doctor recommended collagen 3. She was taking 10 collagens in one, and her doctor said to only take 1 & 3. I started taking these, and within 2 days my back stopped hurting. The only down side is, you have to take 3 very large pills daily. I do not have a hard time taking pills, but these are pretty big. On the upside, they reduce my appetite because they fill my stomach.

I bought it because I was looking for something natural to help me with [food cravings / energy / digestion / appetite control / metabolism, etc.].What I liked most is that it didn't give me any side effects, or any jitters or anything strange. Within a few days, I noticed fewer cravings and more energy throughout the day.I also noticed my stomach was a little less bloated (something I normally struggled with).The capsule size is easy to swallow, and it doesn't have a strange smell. The combination of ingredients gave me confidence because they're natural.

I have been taking Doctor's Best CoQ10 for over 6 years and have purchased every single one from the DB Bolo store. So I love DB's products and was hoping the same with the collagen, but I am not sure how long I can take this for. For some reason when I take it, the supplement gives me a headache and/or makes me dizzy. I tried taking the recommended dosage, which is 3x per day half hour before food, and I had a headache for 2 days. I don't usually suffer from headaches. I thought maybe I am taking them too close to my other vitamins and tried taking one first thing in the morning and I don't take my other vitamins before 4 pm. That did not make it better. I don't know if this may be an allergic reaction, but I am not allergic to fish products, which is the only thing I could think of right now since I am not allergic to anything else, that I am aware of anyway. I am currently breaking the pill and taking one half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon or just taking one half for that day. So far I don't have a headache when I do that. I do still get lightheaded, and for some reason I also have difficulty focusing, which is a no no for my type of work. I need every once of focus I can muster in a day. I am going to contact the company to see if maybe they can recommend another way to take it, b/c I would love to continue taking this supplement as I am already seeing growth in my nails. My hair has been falling out a lot and I did notice a drop in how much was falling out since I started taking the supplements. I would still recommend this brand, but this particular supplement, I don't know.

I've always had strong, fast-growing nails, but about 3 years ago, my left thumbnail started to delaminate at the nail bed, causing it to split. I cut it short, moisturized it, put oils, salves, and ointments on it, but nothing helped. While researching something else, I found an article about collagen and how the amount of it is diminishes as the body ages. Some further research indicated it could help with nail repair. Here's my experience with Doctor's Best Collagen Types 1&3:1/4 - Took one caplet in the morning on an empty stomach (I read some people have reactions, so I wanted to start off at a low dose).1/5 - Took one caplet in the morning on an empty stomach1/6 - Took one caplet in the morning and one before bed on an empty stomach1/7 - Took two caplets in the morning on an empty stomach1/8 - Took two caplets in the morning on an empty stomach1/9 - Took two caplets in the morning on an empty stomach1/10 - Took three caplets in the morning on an empty stomach. In the afternoon, I removed (with a little work) a piece of something that looked and felt like hardened cuticle from under my thumbnail. I also noticed that the nail was no longer split.1/11 - My left thumbnail looks normal except the white part of the nail dips very slightly into the pink part. The skin under the nail looks normal, even when examined using a 10x jeweler's loupe.I'm impressed. I was hopeful I'd see improvement in a few weeks and maybe even full resolution of the problem in a few months. I never expected such a fast result on a low dose, especially since the nail had been damaged for so long. Again, my nails have always been great, so your results may not be as fast as mine.Edit 1/18/2015: My thumb nail is still growing without a split, but another hard piece is forming at the edge of the nail bed. Maybe it's something that needs to finish growing out from under the nail bed. I'll update again in a few weeks. All of my other nails look even better than usual and my cuticles seem a little less dry, with fewer hangnails.Edit 5/19/2015: I've been taking 3 capsules every morning since the last edit. The hard piece under my thumb nail regrew and still causes a bit of delamination under the nail, but the nail grows much longer before it splits. All of my nails look smooth and I still rarely have a hangnail.

As a runner I am very hard on my body. During a race I wound up developing tendinitis. There’s been some research showing the benefits of collagen 1 & 3 on tendon strength when used in combination with resistance training. I cannot be 100% that the pills help, but my tendinitis has improved significantly. Additionally, the pills are large but easy to swallow with no after taste, while also getting a large quantity for a low price.
