We have a few of these puzzles and they are my kids favorite. The sounds are loud enough but not TOO loud that they become obnoxious. The pieces fit nicely into their spots and come out easy enough. It's nice for him to get to learn about various instruments as well.The only bad thing I can think of to say is that in order for the sounds to work there needs to be decent lighting. Something about the sensors on the puzzle need to see light before you cover them back up in order to trigger the sound. The sounds can also be triggered without putting the pieces back just by motion.We highly recommend these books for anyone with kids. Great fun and a good learning tool.

Good pictures and sounds. Two year old enjoys playing with puzzle. One year old loves mocking the sounds. Because it is light sensitive we found only one animal could be off at a time or movements (shadows) would react to other animals so a cow would moo when a dog was revealed. Funny for two year old but frustrating for one year old. No big problem. Overall a good long lasting game.

I love Melissa & Doug toys. These wooden puzzles tend to wear out a bit quickly, but that’s okay. My nephew had a lot of Melissa & Doug wooden puzzles, and my son enjoyed playing with them. This one was missing, so I got it because he loves musical instruments. When you place the musical instrument in its spot, it plays a sound, which is really nice.

Granddaughter is enjoying this. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a battery so there were no animal sounds until I found a battery. I didn't see any information that said battery wasn't included or I would have put one in before I wrapped the puzzle. Edit to add: batteries don't last very long. :(
