Description:
Ampersand Museum Series Pastelbord is a professional, museum-quality pastel panel engineered for artists who want more layering power, cleaner detail, and greater control than pastel paper or pastel pads can offer. Its medium-textured marble-dust finish provides superior tooth that holds significantly more layers of soft or hard pastels—ideal for rich color buildup, smooth gradients, and deep blending. The tooth also works beautifully with charcoal, colored pencil, graphite, conté, and other dry-pigment media, making Pastelbord a dependable pastel board and dry media art panel for detailed illustration and fine art. The absorbent clay-and-gesso ground supports both wet and dry applications. Use acrylic, watercolor, casein, ink, or mixed media to create underpaintings or tone the surface—especially on white Pastelbord—without the buckling or movement common with pastel paper. The rigid 1/8"" Hardbord backing stays perfectly flat, offering stable control for realism, portrait work, landscapes, florals, still life, and plein-air pastel painting. Because it is a true panel, it requires no mounting board or backer and frames cleanly behind glass. Pastelbord is available in **four classic tones—Grey, Sand, White, and Green—**allowing artists to begin with an immediate color foundation. White panels can also be custom-toned with thin washes for expanded palette options. Built on Ampersand’s premium, warp-resistant FSC-Certified Hardbord™ and sealed with Archiva-Seal™, Pastelbord provides a durable, archival foundation for professional pastel work, mixed media, drawing, and illustration. Proudly handcrafted in the USA, it is a long-lasting alternative to sanded pastel paper, pastel pads, toned pastel paper, drawing boards, and other pastel painting surfaces.
