I'm one of the few people on the planet who hasn't mastered a rice steamer (I never get the timing right) so I was skeptical about the quality of rice steamed in a pouch, but it's perfect every time. I will admit to adding a tiny bit of water to the pouch before we steam in the microwave, simply because we like our rice more on the tender side.As far as flavor, this rice is SO delicious. I could eat it plain all day. It's got a nice creamy, nutty sort of flavor without that weird chalkiness that some rices have. And it doesn't require much seasoning at all.We use this rice with everything from Indian food to sides with vegetarian burritos to a stir-in for soups and stews. It's always ready to go, and even if we wait until last minute (which we often have to do with our schedules), there's no prep work involved- just tear the pouch open, toss in the microwave, and it's ready to go.Delicious and easy, you can't go wrong.

Currently I have to rely on the microwave for my meals. The basmati rice packages seemed ideal but was rather disappointed that the portion size was too small for my liking. The package read 1 serving, but for my appetite it wasn't enough. That is my reason for not giving it 5 stars.

Although these are a little on the pricey side, I must say, this is the best tasting rice I've encountered.I love rice and have been eating a variety of rice over the years. My favorites being basmati and Jasmine. I have a rice cooker which makes cooking rice easy, but sometimes I'm not in the mood. This is a quick, easy fix.Because I don't use a microwave, I put the rice in a small sauce pan with a bit of water or broth and warm for a few minutes.My favorite is to combine this rice with chunks of chicken, spinach and mckormick's gluten free gravy.If you are in the market for quick rice. Look no further! You will not be disappointed with this one.

...and this rice tastes great, too. Need some basmati rice quickly? How does 90 seconds in the microwave sound? If you pair it with one of their Indian entrees (like Vegetable Tikka Masala), you can have a nice Indian dinner in under 5 minutes! (I promise--I have absolutely no connection to this company) You can also throw some naan or frozen samosas in the toaster oven to complete your meal If you like Indian food, but don't have a lot of time to cook, give it a try. These are especially handy if you are cooking for one and they are shelf-stable.

I am from coastal South Carolina where rice has been embedded in the culture for centuries. A Boomer, when I was young, we most always had rice with dinner and supper and many people even ate it for breakfast although in my family, we thought of that as a character flaw-- fie, grits is what you SHOULD eat for breakfast..I have always made rice from scratch and avoided any sort of "quick" rice because it was deplorable BUT, I have to say that pre-cooked rice has finally gotten to the point where it is more than just edible. I use this brand a lot with many traditional American foods and relish it although I have to admit that I also have started eating it with many of the types of pouched, microwave Indian food available on Bolo and in truth, SOME of that is so spicy that serving it over an oven mitt rather than rice would not make much difference.
