It worked well. The instructions were not helpful. Quick breakdown of how to use this:1: Take what looks like a white clored pencil (cleaner) and rub it on the surfaces where the alligator clip comes in contact and where you intend to touch the test piece to the machine.2: there is a liquid that comes with this machine in a small dropper. Fill up the cound test area on the machine to create a small puddle (about 3 to 4 drops)3: press the button that corresponds with the type of gold being tested. Once the machine lights up wait untill the lights on the carot indicator go dark.4: place the part of the gold test piece you cleaned earlier to the little puddle of solution in the test area and hold it there. If it's real gold, the test light will flash or be solid for a brief moment, then the corresponding carot light will show. If it's not gold the red "not gold" light will light up. Hope this helps.

It seemed as though my tests could not get accurate reading. I think the machine is probably a high quality machine. I think the issue was my own lack of knowledge on using this device.
