5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly fitting (and hidden) hitch

    J. · February 18, 2020

I've previously installed a CURT hitch on a different vehicle, so I'm familiar with the perfect fit and anticipated a smooth installation. Bolo's price and Prime shipping also could not be beat.I was surprised to see no screws in the box (previous hitch for a Jeep included screws), but then once I unwrapped and read the instructions, I saw "please use existing vehicle hardware". Indeed there are already bolts installed where a hitch would go under the vehicle.Only issue I had (for which I only knocked 1 star off because it's not CURT's problem) was that I had to remove 3 of the exhaust/muffler supports in order to move the muffler out of the way for clearance in removing and installing those bolts on the rear passenger side. The driver's side was a breeze (and a joy) to install. At the end of the day, I can now install and use my heavy duty bike rack and the total installation (although difficult due to one very tight screw and the exhaust being in the way) only took about an hour from backing up the van onto my ramps to looking at my newly installed tow hitch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fit perfectly on a 2016 Grand Caravan. Excellent product.

    J.D. · February 10, 2018

Met ALL my expectations. The hitch arrived in a large box. There was a hole in the middle side of the box but, curiously, the cardboard was folded inward: I think perhaps the delivery personnel used it to as a handhold? The workmanship and material of the hitch impressed me and, there was no damage to the hitch at all.Installation was a breeze. It took me longer to look up the specs and torque setting (I could not find instructions in the box) than to install it.using a jack to support the weight It took a total of 41 minutes to complete and looks great. Its embarrassing to admit but, once I started to install it, I found the instructions are tucked into the receiver!! dummy me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my Dodge Grand Caravan

    B.G. · March 25, 2017

I just finished installing this receiver onto my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, Mainstreet edition. Perfect fit, priced right, instructions were well written. I purchased the Curt receiver over the other two main brands I'm familiar with because of the way the cross beam was attached to the mounting bracket. It's welded directly to the side of the bracket with no protrusion through. In my case, the one piece of information that was not in any of the manufacturers' instructions was the tailpipe. Instead of just a pipe at the end, my unit has a resonator with a short pipe out at the very end of the exhaust system. It appeared to me the protrusion of cross bar on the other units would be an interference in getting the hitch mounted but with the Curt model, there was no interference at all. The only thing I had to do a little different, because of the resonator, was to drop the bolt out just behind the muffler so I could get enough swing in the pipe to properly torque the last bolt just above the resonator. Installation done and ready to use. Five stars and I will look for Curt products in the future.

This is a fine, basic hitch. Seems sturdy. Time will tell.I thought I'd mention a bit about installation.I installed this on my 2014 Chrysler Town and Country - by myself. There are some really good videos at eTrailer.com (and probably elsewhere that explain how to install this.Everything fit perfectly with the exception of the actual receiver tube in the center of the bumper. It should be about a quarter inch lower. As is, it comes into contact with the bottom of the bumper fascia and will certainly lead to paint scratches. Not an issue if you don't ever plan on removing it I suppose. I am considering adding washers and getting longer bolts to bring it down sightly, but I seriously doubt I'll ever work up the energy for that. Some reviewers have expressed concern about using existing hardware (bolts). In my case this was no problem. Though I had access to an impact driver, I was installing this in the middle of the night and didn't want to disturb the neighbors. I used a standard 1/2" breaker bar and all the bolts came free relatively easy. I will concede that on older vehicles this may not be the case.I installed this by myself. Something I highly recommend you don't do. Muscling this beast up into position, aligning the bracket on the other side of the frame and threading a bolt is a truly herculean task. This is the kind of job that is a piece of cake for two people but almost impossible for one. It can be done, but it's extremely difficult and not worth the effort unless you're really desperate. As others have mentioned Curt's packaging is quite suspect. The hitch arrived in a gigantic box I opened it to find the hitch just sitting in there with only some packing tape over the receiver itself. There was no damage but I can't guess how it got to me without being damaged. Can't we get a little Styrofoam? All in all, this appears to be a good hitch and is fairly easy to install. I would certainly recommend it. Just get help installing it!

Installed in 2017 dodge caravan, had to remove couple bolts for the muffler, also use liquid wrench or anything similar it will help remove the 5 bolts, need 2 people to install the hitch. It is a perfect fit and pretty solid and well painted, good product and good price.

Good product. Shipping not so much.

Solid hitch. Hitch was damaged through shipping. Not so easy install. If you’re from a city that spreads salt on the roads there is a lot of rust under the car. I used pb blaster for several days prior to install and I still broke bolts. Muffler must be loosened in 2 spots (that’s easy if the bolts don’t break) and still you have to pull the muffler down and out of the way quite hard. I found it really hard to do this by myself without a hitch holder. Just get a helping hand to lift the hitch when putting bolts on. Gl with install!

Quick and easy to install on my 2017 Grand Caravan. Nice and solid and tucks up nice and tight to underside of bumper. I like it.

Great hitch, but beware of rusty under carriage bolts!

    C.P. · July 29, 2020

Ok,I bought this hitch to put in our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan.Once installed, the hitch works great. The installation is a breeze once you're past the removal of the under carriage bolts. These bolts as other reviews have pointed out can either be easy to remove or a nightmare.Mine were a bit of the latter. Once I snapped the first bolt while removing it I decided to not waste any more time and went to a Dodge dealer and bought the complete rear bumper assembly. It was an extra cost, but we'll worth every penny spent. With the new assembly in my possession, I didn't care if I snapped another bolt.Once all bolts were removed, it was pretty easy to install. Having a second pair of hands is handy while linning it up.Be very careful with the AC lines and twist the rear muffler hanger away from the muffler before tightening it back again. This will ensure the low RPM rattle is kept to a minimum. The whole install was done in just over an hour including the removal of the old bumper assembly and the customary clean up beer 😁😁😁.Overall this is a great hitch in both value and performance.

    Fits and works great

I bought this hitch for my 2010 Grand Caravan. It fits perfectly and it does what it is supposed to do. The receiver fits quite closely to the bottom of the rear bumper cover, so it looks good, too.One thing to know is that the hitch installs using 5 bolts that are already installed in the vehicle's chassis. These bolts hold the rear bumper brackets to the chassis. Like all bolts underneath the vehicle, these bolts may be rusted and/or seized. Three of the bolts came out for me but the other two sheared. If the bolts won't come out, then you need to shear them off with an impact wrench. Then you'll need to remove the rear bumper cover, the rear bumper, and extract the remainder of the bolts from the two brackets. It isn't hard to do but you might want to budget more time, and you may need to buy some new bolts. None of this is the fault of the hitch itself but it's good to be aware of before you start the job.
