I've used white palette paper for years. Then I discovered how the color gray under my oil paints brings them into view. Gray provides better color accuracy since it's neutral and does not reflect light. Once I found this palette paper, I knew I'd not return to white.

I’ve used Grey Matters disposable palettes for years as part of my portable Plein air set up. Since I use alkyd oils that dry faster when I travel for Plein air landscape painting, the paint dries out quickly, so no use saving paint lumps on heavy glass palette— I start fresh with a light weight new grey matters palette each day. Grey palette color is important for judging values when mixing oils. Easy to clean up. Affordable.
