Super Sculpey Original is great stuff. For regular sculpting purposes, such as a hobbyist who wants to make decorative pottery or other general shapes it's amazing. The Original compound's characteristics are a tendency toward a smooth finish and a softness that makes it difficult to sculpt fine detail. Sculpey makes "medium" and "firm" grades for sculpting more intricate detail. For instance if you want to take macro photography of the finished product you'd want the Firm.What is Sculpey? It's a clay-like modeling compound designed for easy working and baking, so anyone from children to professionals can sculpt and make the results permanent with minimal work. Regular modeling clay can have difficult maintenance, requires moistening the clay, working it endlessly, and requires care to bake without breaking. I love Super Sculpey Original. Its great stuff. My problem is, when I ordered at the end of 2020 this same box was only 68$, and that was pushing it in regards to value for your money. Now this box is 120$. I wouldn't buy it now. Plain and simple. The seller is taking advantage.

I absolutely love it! The package came in quickly and I was able to begin sculpting right then. The clay is easy to manipulate. You have to play with it for a few minutes to work it in but after that is very easy to use. It does involve a little bit of strength at first. This isn't like play-doe. I wouldn't recommend it for children to use. I was surprised that it didn't harden up when I left it sitting out for a straight week! It doesn't crumble or break when you're working with it. Its very elastic and has a great ability to mesh back into itself. I would most definately recommend this to my friends.

THIS CLAY. THOUGH MORE EXPENSIVE TO BUY THAN THE REGULAR CLAY, IS MUCH EASIER TO MOLD, FORM, & DETAIL FOLK ART FIGURES. THE REGULAR CALY CAN BE TOO SOFT IF FRESH, OR TOO DRY IF NOT USED OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. SUPER SCULPY STAYS VERY USEABLE IF STORED IN IT'S BOX OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

I needed this for my traditional 3D modeling class at school, for a character creation assignment we are doing. This is my second time working with this clay, and it's great. It softens just enough to where you can manipulate it easily, but it "dries" to where it won't be harmed or damaged too greatly if pushed against by accident. As for baking, it bakes pretty well and the results are a sturdy piece (unless you have very fine points that stick away from your figure, that could break off). Great clay!

However, it can be brittle in thin or projecting areas after baking, so I reinforce delicate parts during sculpting.Its beige color is great for painting over, and the 1 lb. box provides plenty of material for multiple projects. While it may warm up too quickly for ultra-fine details compared to Super Sculpey Firm, it’s forgiving and versatile for most sculpting needs. This clay is a staple in my studio, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable, user-friendly polymer clay
