This compilation lived up to the name of "Essential Bluegrass". It has a wonderful variety of popular bluegrass numbers and performers. I purchased this album for my elderly father, and we are enjoying listening to it together.

I got this as a gift for a friend, who is a huge Bluegrass music fan. Although he has an extensive Bluegrass collection, he was excited that there were several songs on here that he didn't have. He recognized most or all of the musicians, so apparently these are from well known artists, and not some backyard bands.As far as the quality of the music files, I really don't know. He plays this on a small portable CD player, so you really can't tell how "high def" it is on something like that. All I can say is it plays, and sounds good.Hope this helps.

over 30 songs on these 2 CD's...........old style bluegrass about being in prison but if you like that kind of thing it's a good value.
