My to go coals. Two coals will last me about 40 minutes, two rounds will finish a head. No smells, no taste, no issues. Regular ash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coals for shisha!

    r. · February 16, 2025

Just perfect, no notes. Zero smokiness, no chemical taste or odor, very even heat. Last a long time. Two coals are more than sufficient for an hour long session on my medium size shisha. Use these coals with an electric coal starter and please don't use magic coals, they ruin the experience.

First things first, these coals are truly amazing. There are so many coals to choose from out there and there are several applications they are used for. For the intents of this review, these coals are used for smoking shisha out of a hookah. With consideration to smoking there are also many coals popularly used by most people: quick-ignites, finger coals, and natural coals (usually made of coconut shells). The great part about these coals are that they provide nearly nothing to the shisha you are smoking. In the case of the quick-ignites and sometimes the finger coals, there is an accelerant coating the coals themselves so that you don't need a major heat source to ignite said coals. The accelerant provides the coals to ignite quickly, but the accelerant also gives off an odor and if you don't let them burn it all off before you place it on your bowl, you will have that taste lend itself into your shisha. Many people do not realize that these natural coals (coconaras) do not have an accelerant and, therefore, do not ignite easily or quickly. You need an exterior source that can maintain a good heat without going out. For this reason, a lighter will simply not cut it. Using a portable stove, a regular stove (gas/electric), a blowtorch, or even a BBQ are all reasonable methods to ignite these coals. Now, onto the review - Coco Nara coals are natural coals made from coconut shells. The density of the coal allows a solid burning time to be around an hour, unless you're smoking consistently through your session, then the coals will burn out faster (~45 minutes or so).The coals provide nearly no taste into the bowl you are smoking, and therefore you can get the full flavour from your shisha. The downside, that isn't really a downside, is that these coals take some time before they're "cooked". In that you need to let them sit on the stove until they are fully glowing red or on fire. These coals have become essential to my hookah sessions and even though the prices often fluctuate here, they're still much cheaper than through my local smoke shop.

I'm happy to help you write a product review for Coco Nara Hookah coal!I have been using Coco Nara Hookah coal for some time now and I must say that I am quite satisfied with this product. These coals last a long time, which is great as I don't have to constantly replace them while enjoying my hookah session. However, it does take some time to light them up, so I usually use a coal burner to speed up the process. One of the best things about these coals is that they don't produce any visible fumes or unpleasant odors. This is great because it ensures that my hookah session is as enjoyable as possible without any distractions or discomfort. The fact that they don't produce any ash also makes cleaning up after my session much easier.I usually order Coco Nara Hookah coal from Bolo, as it's very convenient and I can get them delivered straight to my doorstep. Overall, I highly recommend these coals to anyone who wants to have a great hookah experience without any hassle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great coals

Right off the bat I want to point out that I gave this a 4 of 5 rating because these are not "easy to light" unless you have something HOT. Conventional lighters simply don't have the heat output and I don't recommend the stove idea mentioned by other reviewers simply because of the amount of power you are wasting just to light a chunk of coal. The fastest, easiest, and most effective way that I have found to light one of these bad boys up is to use a handheld propane, butane, or MAPP gas torch set up like the one seen here ([...]). Just hold the coal over the flame using your tongs and within a minute it should be hot enough that it will keep itself lit. You'll know if its ready when you blow air across the coal and it glows red. And with the heat that you are dealing with when it comes to these torches, all you have to do is expose one face of the coal to the flame and the coal should keep itself lit from there. Keep your fingers at a safe distance down your tongs while doing this, they can get a bit toasty. But once lit these things are great! They burn at a nice temperature, they keep burning for a long time (I've had a few hit 2.5 hours!), they have little to no odor at all and they dont mess with the flavor of your smokes. I love them other than the fact that they are kinda hard to get started.A fair warning and disclosure to anyone who has never used a set up like the one I just showed, these torches get HOT HOT HOT! As in the thousands of degrees hot! MAPP gas being the hottest at 5,200+ degrees fahrenheit and butane being the lowest with 1,500+ degrees. So if you aren't experienced in dealing with a set up like this, then DON'T use this method. You can get very quickly and seriously hurt or set fire to something if you handle one of these systems the wrong way. I am not responsible for anyone's negligence, accidents, and otherwise painful or horrible experiences if you mishandle a gas torch. This is simply the method I use and the best one that I have found to light these coals but I am also experienced in handling these torches. Be smart and be safe.
