Perfect for my jewelry bench. I did buy a piece of glossy tile and rigged the tile so it wouldn't slip when pushing on the vise. I've had no problem with suction after that...and the ball vise doesn't jiggle when setting bezels.

Better than the standard Panavise in my opinion (I have both), and much cheaper. Excellent quality. It's true the suction doesn't hold very well (they never do unless you have a very smooth surface, preferably a little damp). But it's heavy enough that it's stable without suction for most of the stuff I do.Panavise has some specialized things this can't do, like board holders and low-profile. But for general-purpose use, I prefer this one.

This a great vice -- you will love it, and it's easily worth the price.The mount is heavy enough to be useful without the suction cup base. The suction cup base is extremely (sucky?) good.The manufacture and design are superb. I bought this because BosnianBill uses one to hold his locks -- and you can bet if Bill is using it, it's going to be the best you can buy.

This is a great little vise for hobbies. I needed one that sticks to a glass tabletop. After ordering this I really was impressed with the quality, I only gave it 4 stars though because I can get it to stick, but within a half an hour it loses suction and comes loose. But the best part is that the base is weighted pretty good so the suction part isn't as necessary. Otherwise it is made well and works great. The swivel part is an awesome feature for hard to reach things.

This has to be the best bench vise that I have ever used. The base is large and vacuums to a clean smooth surface like it is permanently attached. the swivel ball mounting allows the vise to assume almost an unlimited number of positions. The jaws open smoothly and squarely and, they have removable soft jaws to protect the project. I am particularly impressed with the overall construction and the VERY durable finish. Highly recommended.

I got this for tinkering at my kitchen table because my garage bench isn't always accessible due to boat storage.Now my kitchen table is glass... this vise works great on glass. I can't speak for wood or other porous surfaces...But on glass, it rocks. I stuck it on, a half hour later I still couldn't get it to budge (could pick up the entire sheet of glass with it). I let the suction go and still had trouble getting it off, had to peel it from the sides.So I mean... if you are needing a vise on wood you might be better off using a clamping one, or some actual clamps on a piece of wood or something like that.But for a polished surface this is going to give you plenty of anchorage.

Nice concept. Parts appear to be fine. Assembly could use a little help. As was pointed out in a another review, there is a little play, like a screw could be tightened between the vice head and the locked-down ball adjustment-- except there is no easy way to find that screw (if there is one) without complete disassembly. I used JB Weld to fill in and stabilize the contact point where the head connects to the ball.[EDIT] The epoxy worked, but after staring at it for a while, I it was obvious that you can simply unscrew the hold-down on the ball. The ball comes right out. On the bottom of the ball is the screw that would have solved the problem. DUH!Out of the box, the movement was pretty stiff. I lubricated the guide bars and the screw. That smoothed the travel, but then one of the guide bars came loose. Locktite and a rubber hammer reattached the guide bar to the stationary jaw. Been using it for couple weeks and it works great! We will see how it holds up. No, the suction base will not hold on wood (or any other, unpolished surface but on a CLEAN metal bench, it held for hours.After using the suction base for a while, I actually bought the clamp-down version of the same vise (Proxxon FMZ ) which I bolted it to my electrical workbench. Having one stationary and one movable, with all the positional adjustments, gives me the flexibility I'm looking for. The second vise was perfect, right out of the box, so maybe the first one was an oddity. I'm leaving this as three stars, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
Excellent for twice the price!!
This vise is much better than expected. Solid quality and function. Looks like it's made in Germany from the packaging. Colours were a bit off from picture but who cares. I would recommend this highly.

Anche il peso è adeguato e permette di lavorare in tutta sicurezza i pezzi, senza timore che si sposti; la ventosa inferiore aiuta ulteriormente a tenere salda la posizione del morsetto, e fa presa con estrema facilità su qualsiasi tipo di superficie.Se avete un Proxxon ma vi manca il morsetto da banco, non esitate a comprarlo e non ve ne pentirete affatto; a parte questa versione, che è più indicata a reggere i pezzi da lavorare, ho acquistato anche il morsetto da banco per il micromotore, la cui qualità è analoga in tutto e per tutto a quella posseduta da questo modello a ventosa.
