THE FRATELLIS "HERE WE STAND"
The much anticipated follow-up to The Fratellis debut "Costello Music". Like it's predecessor, "Here We Stand" has a great melodic sense and funny heartfelt lyrics, rounded out with excellent production and ear-grabbing vocals. "Costello Music" has scanned nearly 150,000 units in the US and over one million units in the UK to date. "Costello Music" was also a critical and licensor's favorite in 2007, including most notably an iTunes campaign, among many other placements. Throughout the fi rst album campaign, every time the band came to the US their audience increased dramatically (NYC concert attendance went from Mercury Lounge to Roseland in only 5 months, band was highlight of SXSW and Coachella).
On this album - the first to be released simultaneously worldwide - the band is committed out of the gate to touring the world in support.

In spite--or perhaps because of--being written off by many critics as a commercial pub-rock outfit, Glaswegian band The Fratellis have managed to procure themselves a fairly prodigious fan base. Their catchy songs, gigantic hooks and good-time lyrics have earned the band an army of fans keen to indulge in a bawdy sing-a-long. If the trend-setting press were tough on the bands 2006 debut Costello Music though, The Fratellis werent listening. Here We Stand continues pretty much where that album left off, although it could be argued that a lot of the charm of their first album has disappeared. The clanging rock riffs of songs like "Shameless", "Mistress Mabel" and "Acid Jazz Singer" show the band in typically ribald form, while "Tell Me A Lie" and "A Heady Tale" attempt to revive the big-haired rocker spirit of 70s acts like Slade and Status Quo. Infectious as some of this material is, Here We Stand somehow doesnt capture the same cocky joie de vivre that made Costello Music so much fun. At the same time, its refreshing to hear a band so determined to do their own thing and have a good time--no matter what the critics say.--Danny McKenna

I thought Costello Music was the best CD I've heard in years, and I mean about fifteen years. Every song had wicked catchy hooks, riffs, and chorus' that just "did it" for me.This new album is also fantastic. I heard "Mistress Mabel" on youtube awhile ago and absolutely loved it. Now that I have the CD, I've listened to a few times over. On the first run-through, I thought it was pretty good. On the second time around, about eight songs really caught my ear. After the third time, I've already downloaded into my iPod and proclaim it a smashing success. I can't recommend an album higher.I have no idea how the Fratellis are not more popular in the United States. At least I'll know that once they hit it big, I will take comfort knowing that I got in on the ground floor.Favorites include "My Friend John", "Acid Jazz Singer", "Shameless", "Mistress Mabel", and "One Heady Tale". Go for it...you will not be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Be ready to fall in love with them!
What can I say but each song is as fun as the next. The Fratellis really know how to make music attractive, surprising, intellectual and timeless. I really don't even know the right words to describe how creative and musically successful this is. They know the right mix of rhythm, major and minor with touches of ragtime, blues and more. A Heady Tale is on of my all imd fav songs of theirs, Baby Doll strikes an emotional chord somewhere inside me, as does Milk and Money. I could go on about every song, but Ill just say if you really appreciate music, music for all its ability to make you feel, sing, dance, and wonder how they came up with these great songs, you'll love this CD as well as all their others!

Great album
3.0 out of 5 stars It's Just a CD - Get 'Costello Music' First
This is the second album I bought from The Fratelis. I'll say, its a well recorded disk with some occasionally catchy riffs, but not worth purchasing. I recommend picking up 'Costello Music' and then, if you are absolutely inspired by the band, buying 'Here We Stand'. In my opinion, there are only two or three songs on this disk that I would listen to all the way through. I have noticed that I skip most of the songs right around the two-minute mark, and that is only because I am a patient guy. I was not impressed by any means, but I give it 3-stars because I understand my taste in music does not necessarily define what good or bad music is.Again, 'Costello Music' first. Then you may consider 'Here We Stand'.

Good condition!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album
Great Album to start on if you have never herd of them, but you have to listen to the whole album. Not just the first song!
4.0 out of 5 stars Even less good Fratellis is great
As others have said, the songs are longer and not quite as crisp. But so what? Most of the songs went right from the CD to my workout playlist. Because in the end, what matters is that the Fratellis are the quintessential British band of this decade in the same way that Kings of Leon are the quintessential American band. Neither could be from the other country. The Fratellis come out of a rock tradition that is rooted in the British music hall, not the American south. They are the heirs of the Kinks, T-Rex, Slade, Oasis...highly melodic, highly rhythmic, insightful, funny, and just plain fun. Give me these guys over the world-weary Arctic Monkeys any day!
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Band
Love this Band! Going to see them next year when they come to our State. This CD is fantastic!
