This is an excellent stinger. Perfect gap inside the depressor. Love it! I will be back when I burn this one up on the job. So mush better than that red one you see around. Spend the extra money on this one and you will not be disappointed.

This electrode holder works as advertised. The only thing I want to mention is you stick your rod and need to get the holder to let it go quickly that is not going to happen. Witha squeeze clamp style electrode holder you just squeeze the thumb lever, and you can quickly let go of a stuck rod, not so with this style. Other than that, it works great.

Easy to put on the welding cable and holds the electrodo tight. The hollow handle doesn't get as hot as some other holder options.

Like this stinger a lot. Very light and comfortable to use for daily welding. My company has very heavy old school lobster claw stingers, which kill your arms after 10 hours of daily welding. Only complaint is that I have to keep bending rods downward before welding. But otherwise, good product for the price.

While this is much better than the standard "spring clamp" electrode holder (when it works), it wasn't without flaws. Firstly, it doesn't clamp 1/16" electrodes very well AT ALL. You REALLY have to mess around with them to get the mechanism to bite down on them. Secondly, the Bakelite casting had EXTREMELY sharp casting flash on the end where the wire exits the handle. It was razor sharp and ABSOLUTELY would've cut through the best, thickest insulation on any wire in short time. I ended up filing, then sanding it down with 400 grit sandpaper. Definitely NOT something I'd expect from Hobart. When I contacted them to bring the issue to their attention, they did respond and here is their "cut and paste" response. "Thank you for your feedback. Our accessory products team has inspected some and can see your concern. They conveyed that they are in contact with our supplier to address this issue. Thanks you again for your business. Regards, Hobart Welding Products." They never offered to replace or otherwise compensate me in any way. Heck, they never even apologized! Yeah, I'm a big boy and fixed mine with sandpaper, but I didn't want to have to mess around "fixing" a brand new item, especially since not fixing the issue could've led to a very bad situation. To add insult to injury, I found the item $5 cheaper at my local TSC.My suggestion is to heed the advice in my review title.
