It uses 15-amps with 120/277-volts and has 2-pole, 3-wire feature. It comes with a longer, wider strap that provides 40-percent more contact area to a wall board, virtually eliminating floating installations. The mounting strap is thick steeled and zinc plated making it resistant to corrosion effects. The terminal screws are backed out and ready for wiring while the side wire terminal accept up to number 10-solid or stranded wire. It features a pilot light that can be wired to indicate power on or power off. I have no complaints at all for the little bit of money I spent on this switch knowing other stores were selling the same thing for 2 to 3 times the price I paid and it worked like a charm. At first, I thought my bathroom ceiling fan blew out the light worked but the fan did not. I was about to buy another fan when I decided to pull the fan motor out and plug it in another outlet and it worked fine so now I am thinking is it the outlet in the fan housing or the wall switch? When looking for the outlet I saw this switch on sale for 4 and change with free shipping how could I go wrong worse case scenario is I will still have to order and change the outlet and have a new switch installed. Well, the rule of thumb is always to go with the simplest and cheapest thing first. Long story short it was the switch.

We purchased this Cooper Wiring Devices 271W 15-Amps Traditional heavy duty, grade two, single-pole switch to replace a light and fan (combination) switch in a bathroom. In part, we decided on this switch to match the other types of switches & outlets used in the house. Moreover, having installed Cooper Wiring devices on other occasions, the brand gives us confidence. The switch was priced at $8.14 at the time (November 2013.) A bit pricey, but this particular item wasn’t available yet under Bolo’s Add-On Item program. Moreover, we were pressed for time. The installation (as a mere hobby electrician) was straightforward and the switch functioned perfectly. The item has a very solid feel to it, also when one engages the toggle, which conveys confidence that it will operate as intended for a long time.

Cheaper than Lowe’s and heavy duty. A real nice click when you use it. Make sure to turn off the correct breaker and test with a meter or tester. Otherwise you may get shocked so bad you can taste it.

This switch seems to be a pretty solid design. Switches are thick - which I like - since my previous toggle switch handle broke off. Guess that's what happens over time. Installation wasn't too bad. Although, I would say to be sure you read the instructions to understand which wiring diagram applies to your application. There is a 'metal tab' that needs to remain in place for certain switching arrangements, but broken/removed for others. I would say this is the only 'trickery' involved. Otherwise, solid switch from EATON. Have been using for 1 week - so far so good!

These switches work well. I use them to control a light and ceiling fan where I had only a small box. The only downside is that it has a very loud click when you switch it on. I mean, really loud.The main competitor to this I see is Levitron. I have a couple of the Levitron version of this as well. It has thinner switch levers with uncomfortably sharp edges. It's also loud. Maybe a smidge quieter and requires a smidge less force, but overall the Cooper version is much better. The nice round edges on these switch levers is pretty important.I don't know why no two gang switches like this are quiet.
