The Broan-NuTone RVK1A Steel Roof Cap Kit is an easy-to-install vent for ventilation fans (bath, rec room, home gym, etc. ). It is compatible with 3" or 4" ductwork and includes a 3" to 4" adapter for convenience. This cap features both a back draft damper and bird screen, preventing outside air from entering the home and birds and small pests from entering duct work. This kit includes all materials needed for installation, including 8 ft. of 4" flexible ducting, 4" metal duct connector, 4" to 3" Reducer, nylon zip ties and mounting screws. The flexible ducting conforms to UL 181 Class 1 Air Connector and CUL S110 requirements. Not suitable for dryer venting or flat roofs.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Easy install, everything fit as it should. If you live in a particularly humid area you may want to insulate the base a tad right where it connects to your fan in case of condensation build up but that's pretty simple to do.

These are made with craftsmanship, the metal work is smooth and the paint coat looks great. Image shows a white vinyl duct, actual package includes a foil duct.The included duct zip ties needed to be longer, ended up using a 36" HVAC zip tie.The flashing is in my opinion too narrow. The pro is that its easy to install, less shingle prying. The problem is that its easy to end up with a leak. When you install it, apply liberal amounts of Henry / root sealant around the top and sides to prevent water from sneaking around.

Better price than big box store, and kit is bundled and good to go. Just added some 3M Foil tape to seal at exit and entrance as well as Roofing sealant for weatherproofing on the outside.

I was at hardware store trying to piece together a vent kit out of miscellaneous parts scattered in different locations throught the store and I still didn't get everything I needed. This kit right here had it all besides the duct tape.
