I bought this from Bolo with help from a gift card I had received. The price was very comparable to Home Depot. The first and only chop saw I had owned was a tool sale special. It lasted about 8 years. Great value for the money. Not that easy to work with.I took this out of the box and cut some 1 1/2" square tubing. I changed between the 90 degree and 45 degree cuts with ease. Much better than the standard saw I had used before. Each swap was quick and easy. Usually I would try to cut each angle separately and then change to the other to finish all cuts. This was so fast and easy to change back and forth that I cut each piece as needed.I am a home hobbyist and wanted a durable chop saw that was going to last. I feel very confident in purchasing this saw. One of the good features of the quick change back stop is being able to move it forwards and backwards on the table with ease. This is especially useful when your blade gets smaller. Some of those cuts I couldn't make with a smaller blade, I think I can now. The blade that comes with the saw is great. Fast cuts and high quality.Due to a mistake on my part, I ruined the first blade. I didn't have my metal secured and it slipped and ruined the blade. Nothing to do with the saw, just me being stupid. Changing the blade was fast and simple. No tools required. Unscrew the knob and change the blade. The knob clicks when it is tight enough going on.Overall I would highly recommend this saw. I was going to buy it at Home Depot, but a friend gave me a gift card to Bolo and I used it with some money to buy the saw. Great purchase, quick delivery and it was free shipping. Actually cost me less than at Home Depot.

Saw arrived on time and without damage. UPS guy even put it on a covered porch to keep it out of the weather. Cuts reasonably square if the blade is squared to the fence with a speed square. 45 degree cuts are a bit tricky due to blade deflection. Got the cuts close & welded the gap closed. Forget making a second cut to sneak up on the correct length as one might do with wood. The blade will deflect. Cutting on the narrowest edge of the bar stock, angle iron or square tubing helps. After the cut, plan to grind off artifacts. The saw is pretty much as advertised and it cuts "more square" than I will ever do with an angle grinder in this lifetime.

Works as expected. I specifically got this saw just because its a 5.5 hp saw. Dewalt has a smaller hp saw that looks exactly like it, that is a 4.0 hp, which my friends have and it is too small. I bought an aftermarket stand for it and will couple it with an outfeed table to support my workstock. Its loud, but had plenty of power to cut 1/4" with easily. I found that if I forced the cut, I got blade deflection based on how fast I tried to cut. I see that there are thicker blades out there that should reduce that, but the kerf sacrifices more material. A Laser guide would be handy to align the blade to the cut line. I got some soap pencils to mark the steel which helps. I may explore an aftermarket laser. The challenge will be to find one that is reasonable the fits a 14" saw, most are 12" or smaller. .

I finally got around to my project I intended to use this "chop saw." When I unpacked it and set it up, I was a little taken back as to the quality. A large portion of this saw is plastic. I sluffed it off and placed a 1/4" by 4in square stock into it to be cut. First, the miter gauge has no has no definitive angle stops or markers. You have to use a speed square to get you angle to include the straight cut. I finally verified the 45 degree angle I needed, slide the stock vise in, and tightened it down. I noticed on the stock vise that the threated portion is ALSO plastic! If you need to hold down a significant piece of metal, these threads are going to strip! I had everything set up to cut and brought the blade down to cut. It began to cut ok then I noticed the blade deflecting! the work piece began walking away from the saw! Needless to say, I was halfway through my cut and had to re-seat the work piece. I had to get a pair of welding vise grips to lock it in place! When the cut was finished, I realized the 45 degree angle was totally useless and was not accurate. This metal is not cheap especially this day in age! I could have cut it better and more accurate with an angle grinder which cost far less! I wish I had tested this when I first purchased it so I could get a refund, however, that time has passed. I had fame since it carried the DeWalt name, it would be better. I could have gone to Harbor Freight and purchased one of their chops saws and got a better result for far less money! Shame on you DeWalt and the Engineers that designed, created, and passed this on to consumers with the DeWalt name. But like any other manufacturer in America, they don't care about quality but quantity. Ever since DeWalt was bought out, their tools have gone downhill. Do not buy this saw if you are looking for a good cutting tool to cut metal, unless it is tin foil.

Nice saw, has handled decent material sizes pretty handily. One note is that for beveled and mitre cuts, the fence is held in place only by a locking cam lever and has no presets. Best to keep a square near this one at all times!
